Great menu, confusing experience - Edit
EDIT: I popped in on a weeknight to try out the Ba Bar Green Menu which someone mentioned was (secretly) available on weekdays. I wasn't able to find the Instagram post which announced it and I couldn't find this information on their website, so I called ahead and confirmed that it was a thing. You wouldn't really know it from just walking into the place though! They hand you the regular menu and walk off before questions can be fielded. I checked on their website menu for the location and again, no hint of the Green menu at this location. When the server eventually came back, I asked if I could order from the Green menu. He said oh, yes! and stared at me blankly. I pursued: could I....have that menu? And off he went to find it! So, just understand that they aren't exactly making it clear.
Read moreIt's really lovely to have another evening option with nice cocktails, but I wonder how this is going to work out for this offering if they aren't really handing out the menu and they aren't advertising the existence of it. At least for now, the range of options is a massive improvement over their previous 2 options (vermicelli bowl, pho) which are good enough but prominently feature rehydrated shiitake mushrooms, which I still find to be an unpleasant surprise in a restaurant dish.

Pretty good, they have a not-so-secret vegan menu and are happy to accommodate. Food was fairly oily but otherwise tasty.

This pho was so unreal. The broth was very hearty. The ingredients felt so nutritious and fresh and it's open until midnight!

Always solid - Edit
Been visiting Ba Bar since about 2012. They’ve always been solid. I typically don’t come to this location as the SLU location has Ba Bar green and that’s entirely vegan. If not at Ba Bar Green, I order the vegetarian vermicelli bowl which comes fresh and is refreshing.
