Good.

We ordered the tofu tacos. They were good. Complementary chips and salsa. Wasnt spicey which was a plus. We asked the waiter to inquire about the rice, refried beans, and black beans. Only the black beans are vegan. Not the rice or the refried beans. Price was fine as well.

Fyi - We were told black beans have pork and refried beans were vegan… we tasted them and they definitely didn’t taste vegan. Maybe server got them mixed up?

Seriously, get the veggie soup!

We walked in at about 5pm on a Thursday and there was only one other table seated. Service was quick and professional. I love that they have a dedicated vegetarian menu with several vegan options. Complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch that many restaurants are charging for nowadays. We also got a side of guac which tasted fresh. I ordered the veggie soup with rice which was exactly what I was needing on a chilly afternoon. It was a large bowl chock-full of veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, yellow and green squash, onion, mushrooms, green onion, diced red peppers, and carrots, plus chunks of avocado that melted in my mouth. The soup was hot with a nice clear broth, and the vegetables were tender but not mushy. There was also rice to make it a little heartier. Honestly, I wanted to know whose abuela was in the kitchen making that soup? It was so freaking delicious and comforting, I’ll need to try and make it at home since I probably won’t be back in Charleston. The place was filling up when we were leaving. Bathrooms were in the main part of the building lobby, right across from the door to enter Azul, and they were clean, spacious, and well maintained.

Pros: Dedicated Veg menu, Items clearly marked, Veggie Soup

Cons: None

Portobello Tacos

I got 2 Tofu Al pastor and 1 Portobello taco. Wish I switched that! They were both good but the portobello was better!

The server wasn’t confident on what was vegan so I skipped the rice and beans.

Great tofu tacos

The tofu tacos were delicious. The pineapple, onion, and cilantro combo really made them taste authentic yet exotic.
So good!

Bueno

We had two types of tacos from the veggie menu (if you are looking on your phone it’s a long scroll to the bottom of menu to see it.) My favorite was the Tofu Tacos al Pastor, a soft corn tortilla with an al pastor marinated
organic tofu with cilantro, onions, and pineapple. It’s a bit spicy, so if you are sensitive it might be too much.

The portobello taco is also good, and not spicy. The guacamole was perfect.

Pros: Nice outdoor seating, Veggie menu, with vegan options, Tofu taco!
