Great atmosphere, lots of vegan options. OPEN SUNDAY! - Edit

Merida is a pretty sleepy city on Sundays, but this place was poppin! There were about 25-30 guests in there this afternoon (inside & outside combined) and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had the buffalo cauliflower wings, the vegan nachos with soy chorizo and the falafel sliders. All we're great! Thanks Avocado!

Pros: fun atmosphere, reasonable prices , many vegan options

Average at best but open late - Edit

We ate here a few times for lack of better options. The food was disappointing including the tofu, vegan avocado pie and especially the grilled vegetables. The smoothies we tried were good!

Pros: open late

Cons: food not so good

Pointless - Edit

The place and staff are really nice and the prices are quite low too (but the portions are small too so...). Unfortunately the taste of the food is what deserves really low score. Few of the dishes that I tried where absolutely tasteless (tacos, burger...) and totally pointless (mushrooms with bread...).

Great find! - Edit

Great restaurant with lovely patio. Food excellent, especially breaded avocado and spicy shrooms. Green lasagne is very tasty. In additional, I would say it is more vegan than vegetarian. Also, I would suggest to mark food gluten free, as they have many. Smoothies really really good. In general it was very good decision to eat there. We ordered 3 starters, 2 lunches and 1l of smoothy - cost was 345 peso including tip!

Pros: Good price, Good food, Friendly staff

VEGAN options available - Edit

This needs to be listed under vegan options. The menu distinguishes between vegan and vegetarian options. There are many vegan plates to choose from, just look for the two peppers (or heart as my BF sees it)! The green juice is amazing. Soy/coconut milk available for coffee too

Healthy Vegan Options - Edit

Although the vegan deserts aren't great, everything else is. The smoothies are excellent, made fresh to order. The salads are fresh. The sandwiches are flavorful. The service is good. The location is central, and the atmosphere are charming.

Pros: location, service, food

Vegan food and Beers! - Edit

Was positively impressed by this place in my last visit. Compared to most veg*n restaurants in the region it is very big, a nice colonial building of 3 connecting rooms, including an outside patio. A huge plus for me is the bar and alcohol, again something rare for veg*n restaurants in the region. Not that I need tons of drinks but I love being able to drink a beer or two at dinner. Actually with the location, size and environment this is the perfect place for any group of friends to come and have a few drinks while snacking on their food, promoting plant based food even to omnivores. I tried several items from the menu and was happy with them, my only complaint as the previous reviewer the avocado chocolate pie which they serve half frozen. Vegan options are marked clearly on the menu, I hope they will start switching more options from vegetarian to vegan. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Nice environment, Bar with alcoholic beverages

Cons: mostly vegetarian, hope will switch to vegan

Good service but meh food - Edit

I went to Avocado as it was the only vegan restaurant near the centro open on the weekends. The space is very lovely and can accomodate a large crowd. The server was very friendly and attentive which was nice. I was firstly impressed by the amount of vegan options. I ordered the vegan nachos with soy al pastor nuggets. The sauces accompanying the nachos were tasty as were the corn chips aThe idea that antioxidant supplements are a miracle cure is completely redundant – Antonio Enriquez
Md pastor but it was underwhelming as a whole. It needed a little more heat or flavouring to really satisfy. For dessert I had the pay vegan (vegan pie) made of banana avocado and cocoa and was really disappointed. The pie slice was frozen beyond belief and missing half of the pie base. Trying to use a spoon to eat it made the pie slice fling off of the plate and almost onto the floor. I decided to just use my hands instead. The concept of the pie was right but in my opinion the execution was wrong. Perhaps if I had all of the base on my slice it would have tasted differently. I would be willing to give this place a try again but it has not been in my top vegan Mexican experiences.

Pros: Large menu, Friendly service, Great location

Cons: A bit bland

Great find! - Edit

We were actually looking for another HappyCow listed veg-friendly place when we came across this place that just opened. So glad! We shared two starters, guacemole and cauliflower buffalo "wings" (take these!!) and two main taco dishes. All came with nice sauces. A must go :-)
