Serves meat, vegan options available. A semi-upscale, healthier food restaurant in Bucharest's Old Town. The menu has a number of vegetarian and vegan items, and staff is able to answer questions about ingredients. The size of the dishes vary, so ask. The interior has some doors salvaged from abandoned buildings in the area. Open Mon-Sun 12:00-00:00.

Vegan options in heart of the old town - Edit
Food was pretty good. My only real complaint would be that there’s not a lot of explanation about what the menu items consist of, but not a big issue because vegan items are marked on the menu. The menu is large, so there are several vegan options, including dessert.
Read moreThe ambiance is really nice. There’s nice outdoor seating among the old town streets and it’s also quite nice inside as well.
Honestly the kind of place where I have a good experience, but if I had it at home I would never go. But probably you best option is you want to enjoy a nice dinner in the thick of Bucharest’s old town.
Pros: Seating along the streets of the old town, Large menu

Vegan Food was nice.
Read morePlace lacks ambiance, no music etc - just a bit bland in that regard.
One waiter was friendly, the other tall one was a smart [censored] which I didn’t appreciate.
Some recommendations on food would be good, rather than “the menu will tell you..”
More expensive due to central location - worth it.
Good food.

Wonderful menu of vegan options - Edit
Large variety of vegan options from Mediterranean staples like hummus and babaganoush to interesting creations like a spicy mango salad and avocado strawberry dessert. I pad menu with full descriptions in Romanian and English as well as allergen info.

Ok food, unfriendly service. - Edit
I went there with a couple of friends for dinner. The waiter was not friendly at all, even a bit rude. The food was just ok, with really small portions for such prices. Even with side dishes and bread, we had to buy more food from elsewhere after we left, which doesn't usually happen with me.

Okay, but a bit disappointing - Edit
Went in here after reading some of the reviews on HappyCow and was expecting good food.
Read moreThe menu is on an iPad/Android tablet and seems to crash a bit (funnily enough), however if you can get to the home page there is an entire "Vegan" selection which makes things easier (even if you're not entirely vegan).
We ordered the aubergine meal, aubergine rings with hummus, and the 3-colour falafel plate.
First off, the 3 coloured falafels were good. I think you get two each of beetroot, carrot and herb falafels. They were tasty and came with some hummus and side salad.
The aubergine meal was disappointing though. It consisted of two halves of a dubiously cooked aubergine buried beneath a mound of tepid diced salad, and liberally drizzled with tahini and something purple.
Maybe it's a personal thing, but I just don't like the concept of moderately heated pieces of diced cucumber and tomato (peppers - fine), and it just seems that they lost all interest in trying to make a good dish for the sake of convenience.
Further to that, the aubergine did not taste very good, which was disappointing given the namesake of the place. I couldn't really finish it.
The aubergine rings with hummus were ok, but again were overloaded with the same uninspiring diced salad. The bread on the side was nice, if not the freshest. Perhaps other people just got lucky with the mushroom curry main dishes etc.
Pros: Good amount of veg. options on menu, Some dishes pretty good, Good central location & opening hours
Cons: Food seemed hit & miss, and not great value

DISAPPOINTING! - Edit
A few months ago I went to Aubergine and ordered some of my favorite dishes there: mushroom stew and rice. While eating the mushrooms I discovered something in my stew that looked like a PEBBLE. I showed it to a waiter in the sense that they should be more careful and I continued to eat. The waiter came back at some point offering me to only pay for the rice and due to the nature of the situation I accepted. When I said I'd pay by card, he seemed bothered and after the payment was done he proceeded to suggest that "it's strange how I finished everything after I found that pebble. Nobody would do that and yet I did" . He told me multiple times that I "LICKED IT CLEAN(THE PLATE)" with a very condescending tone in his voice.
Read moreObviously bothered by his rude attitude and vocabulary, I asked him if he was suggesting I was lying just to get free food and he denied, then mentioned another "troublesome episode" with me at their restaurant.
To clear things out, what happened then was that I ordered an eggplant with vegetables and I received half of it. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he said that that was the size of the dish (half an eggplant) and I told them I had ordered it many times in the past and I knew for sure the portion included an entire eggplant. The waiter then said that he'd bring me the rest if the first half "wasn't enough for me". So he acted as if I also tried to trick them into giving me FREE FOOD.
This time I got very upset at this incredibly rude waiter who was suggesting that I came there to eat for free and I told him to check on the camera that was in front of me to show me the exact time when I put that stone into my own food!
Such behavior is simply unacceptable! How can you say such a thing when you should actually APOLOGIZE for something that could have even DAMAGED MY TEETH !?!
They lost a regular customer for sure.

They have many meat options, but only a few vegan options. What they had was fairly good.

More vegan options than you can find in most restaurants in Bucharest - Edit
Update: Since my first review, they added more options and the food is much better, I think. If you go there, you must have the oyster mushroom curry with rice! It is delicious and you can ask for it to be more spicy if you like. Don't ask for the grilled mushrooms if you don't want to eat mushrooms with animal grease from the grill they use.

We ate a lot of vegan options, it was delicious. But the waiter Ali is just interested in the tips. Our bill was 87 lei and we gave 100 lei and WE WERE WAITING FOR OUR CHANGE - it NEVER arrived! We decided to leave before we started to fight there. Be careful. The place is already expensive and they try to force you to give tips, mainly over 10%

Bland, but lots of vegan options - Edit
The waiter was very hurried and seemed completely disinterested in serving me. I ordered the stir fry vegetables in garlic and herbs which were bland and watery. I also ordered the falafel with salad. They falafel were undercooked to the point of being raw. There are so many vegan options with a separate section on the menu which seemed great, but sadly the food didn't live it to much. The restaurant is situated on a very busy pedestrian street that is quite seedy. I won't go back.

Very good food - Edit
First time visiting Bucharest and happy to find this restaurant. I was in mixed (meat eating) company and they were happy with biological menu options. Multiple, well balanced, real Vegan meals. I am fully vegan and could eat there every day of the week, and eat different each time. Portions size was to small for me, I am a tall guy (1.85 meters) and have a big appetite.

When we go there they showed us a full vegan menu on a tablet. I wasn't like one or two options....no, it was a full menu. They have really interesting, healthy and delicious meals.
Read moreThe service was really attentive and even the owner came to say hi to us.
We had: the vegan aubergine, the baba ghanoush, the turmeric bread and the 3 colors falafel. We agreed that the falafels were the best we have had.
I 100% recommend this place! :D
I would give this place 5 stars, but because they serve meat the system doesn't accept it.
Update: We when for a second time and we were sadly disappointed :( The service was so rude to us. The first day we were served by a guy called Ali, he was really nice, this time around the guy ignore us most of the night and was rude when we ordered more food. The food the first time was better too...this time we had the couscous, the turmeric bread, the eggplant cubes and the garlic oil mushrooms. Nothing was amazing, sadly.

Great vegan food & fun location - Edit
Aubergine is a great choice for lighter veg fare in Bucharest’s Old Town. It’s not the place for a big formal meal, but for an early dinner on a summer day, it’s perfect. We had falafel with hummus and baked eggplant with veggies and both were delicious. The service could have been a little more proactive: we had to get the server’s attention any time we needed something because she never checked up on us—but that’s a minor complaint, she was very courteous about all requests. I would happily go back to Aubergine and enthusiastically recommend it to fellow vegan travelers.

Best falafels in town - Edit
I went to this place twice during my stay. The restaurant is nice. There is a vegan menu appart from the main one which makes it very easy to pick a vegan-friendly meal. The houmous and the falafels are AMAZING, I highly recommend tro try the 3 colors falafels. The curry is also nice, as well as the mushrooms. A bit pricy compared to other vegan places in Romania.

If you are visiting Bucharest I highly recommend you try this place- they have an entire vegan menu and the food is divine! We had the homemade bread, hummus, mushroom curry with rice and eggplant dish (I’ve forgotten the name!) and it was all delicious. I thought the price was reasonable for the quality of food we got.
