An all-vegan Vietnamese restaurant with an extensive menu, which includes mock meat and tofu based dishes. As of Jan 2018, has one other location (Dickson) and both are owned by the same people. (Please note despite the word vegetarian in their name, it is a vegan restaurant.) Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-3:00pm, 5:00pm-10:00pm.

We had dinner with three friends. The roast “duck”, green curry, eggplant claypot and the Vietnamese pancake were all very good. Everything was delicious, very well prepared and attractively served. We could happily go back to try different dishes.

The most delicious vegan food in Canberra! - Edit
This is the ‘go-to’ restaurant for our family - luckily it’s fairly close! We have been visiting Au Lac on a regular basis since it opened. Its delicious Vietnamese menu is completely vegan and amazing.
Read moreMy kids adore this place. Their favourite dish is the tamarind fish and satay chicken sticks. Mine is the shantung chicken and the BBQ skewers. I also like the rendang curry.
Each dish is brought out very quickly and the restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine. My only complaint is that it an add up to quite an expensive outing; totally worth it though! #Veganuary

Au lac is amazing and there’s still so many menu options I’m yet to have tried. The laksa and duck wraps are a highlight. My Omni partner says he prefers the vegan duck wraps to regular real Peking duck wraps, which is a real compliment.

Read moreThe food is vietnamese with fairly heavy use of mock meats although there are dishes without as well. The dishes are flavorsome and quite a few of my meat eating friends are happy to come here!
Possibly a little heavy on the oil sometimes depending on what you order.
There is a selection of lovely mixed drinks (non alcoholic) also.
Recommend the 'Eggplant claypot sensation' and 'Southern BBQ pork'
The owners are so genuine and humble and just want to get more people to try vegan food without being pushy; they are really lovely!

Au Lac is by far the best vegan restaurant you'll ever visit. The food is amazing the service is top shelf. Especially the one in Dickson.

Mains the curry chicken and fish are amazing.
The soups are really delicious too, the wonton soup is a favourite. The teas are sweet but it hits the spot.

This is the second location of Au Lac in Canberra. Menu is all vegan and lots of curries, soups and entrées to choose from. There is a variety of mock meat used in the dishes but many also offer tofu and/or veg. Some desserts available. Food comes quickly and is usually pretty fresh. This is also comparatively affordable for what you get.

Food here is amazing. Only tip if you’ve not been before is make sure your order a vegetable dish to accompany your main. Most of the “meat” dishes only have a bed of leaves. Otherwise this place is awesome.

The best mock meats we’ve had. I took the roast duck and it tasted really close to the real thing. My partner had the laksa and said the sauce was one of the best he’d had also. They also have desserts. Generous portions and reasonable prices on top of a very fast and friendly service. Highly recommend.
