If you have the $$… - Edit
Beautiful presentation and good food overall, though they seem to be having staffing issues at the moment. My omni friend (who frequently eats vegan) was VERY impressed with the chicken skewers!! The living curry rice was also good, but I would probably opt to try the rest of the menu next time.

Tasty - Edit
I was very pleased to find this place which is in walking distance to Grand Park. Whether you want something raw and fresh, cooked and comforting, gluten free, pho, dessert... There are a lot of great options!
Read moreI ordered the peanut tempeh sigbature dish (forgot what it's called). They were out of tempeh, so I had it with tofu instead. It was delicious and sweet! My boyfriend had pho, which was possibly even more flavorful!
Our server was super kind and helpful.

Every Dish is an Animal's Theme - Edit
I'll tell you why this restaurant is such a turn-off. Every dish on the menu is built around animal flesh. I know the food is vegan but it smells, tastes and looks like chicken, pork, beef and fish. They depict the resembles in their menu and every item on the menu is named after an animal... There is no way that I can eat at this place - it makes me sick...

My first time here and I loved it! - Edit
I came with a friend to celebrate my birthday to try different vegan dishes. We order their steamed dumplings, curried wild rice, garlic basil noodle, Magic Mushrooms Hot Elixir Tea, and Baklava! They were all flavorful and delicious.

One of my favorite restaurant in the world - Edit
The presentation is pretty like the curry rice. The tostada is amazingly delicious as well as the salt and pepper shrimp. The portions is generous. Both indoors space and outdoor view is excellent. I was also real happy when I got the bill.

Magic Food - Edit
I've been a fan of Au Lac since I ate there there first day of opening 25? years ago at their Fountain Valley location. They have evolved and become even better over the years, especially when they added Chef Ito.
Read moreI love their raw options, especially the Curried Rice and the Tostada. On the cooked side, it's difficult to beat the Salt & Pepper "Shrimp."

Delicious Vietnamese dishes - Edit
We grabbed take-out lunch while in the neighborhood and were not disappointed. Great flavors and textures, and good portions. Very kind people. Finding parking was a challenge, so it’s recommendable to call them to arrange for curbside, which they’re happy to do. Recommended.

great food, very long wait time - Edit
I've tried several things here and I've loved every single dish. Their desserts are fantastic! The wait time for food is pretty awful. I think one time it took over an hour for the food to arrive after we ordered, and there wasn't even that many people eating. Be aware of the cult-like animal rights group the chef tries to promote.

Disappointing - Edit
I’ve been here a few times, and it was absolutely incredible... this time was a bit different. Some of the food was incredible, the kale sea salad, and the soup that came with the lemongrass fish was great. But the fish itself, and the other stuff it came with were underwhelming and flavorless... they also don’t serve cocktails anymore which is fine, just a little sad when you have had yummy cocktails at a place and are looking forward to them.

The worst - Edit
I’ve been vegan for 25 years and I can’t think of another place I walked out of. The food was so bad we didn’t finish it. I’m shocked by the positive reviews here. There were three of us in our party and we all hated every item we ordered. I’m actually upset that I can’t give this place zero stars.

Enjoyed dinner at this place with my wife. They have lots of delicious food. We tried the friend fries, octopus (shiitake) and paella. Very tasty. We also had the Tirawmisu as dessert. Didn’t taste like it’s non vegan version, but still amazing.

Mostly Yummy - Edit
Went in June and had the yam shrimp, found them online, they are factory made, but so good anyway. The mushrooms which were probably lifted from the Buddhist temple chef Jeong Kwan’s shiitake mushroom dish, were pretty tasty, but a bit sweet. Didn’t care for the fish which was recommended by our server. Like I said, all in all, it was mostly nice. I wish I had tried the ramen!

Ive been vegan a long time, but this is the best I've ever had. So many beautiful flavours all mixed together masterfully, and at a relatively reasonable price. The 'fish' wrapped in Nori was amazing, and the curry rice exquisite.

Best dining experience of our trip! - Edit
Be sure to try the “Shrimp”! We needed reassurance it wasn’t real shrimp and actually plant based. We tried 2 different desserts and they too were outstanding- and did not include cane sugar or corn syrup! Michael was our server and did an exemplary job explaining the menu and offering suggestions. We will most definitely plan a visit to Au Lac on our next trip to Los Angeles.
