Was great… until… - Edit
We were really enjoying it… until… my partner found an absolutely gopping piece of yuba knot (also called bean curd knots, tofu skin knots, or fu zhu in Chinese) in our dish and it really rather ruined it, as we panicked for quite some time we had been hoodwinked into eating meat - as it tasted very strong - and is like a gnarled root
Read moreWe had never come across before. Manager advised what it was. After researching and talking to other vegans further we learned that it was this, but these shouldn’t have been in dish in our opinion.

Pros: All vegan place
Cons: Take the yuba knots out!

Delicious food, large menu and fast service! It says vegetarian on the sign outside but it is 100% vegan.

Thank you I was tripping on the Vegetarian thing and thinking this Uber eats order was going to result in me eating animals/contributing to animal slavery and needing far to much toilet paper (you know what I mean if you've been spiked with animal shizer) anyhoo thats the long way to say THANK-YOU for your contribution

Delicious! - Edit
Everything was phenomenal, we tried three appetisers, mains and types of rice and everything was great! The only complaint was that the lemongrass "bone" in the chicken drumstick was not visible on most of them and a mouth full of lemongrass was not optimal.

Delicious - Edit
Separate gluten free menu with lots of options, the mock meats aren’t gluten free so there’s only the option for tofu. My meal was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced!

Very ordinary and lacking subtlety in flavour - Edit
Went to Au Lac whilst visiting Canberra. The duck wrap entree was really good, but sadly it went downhill from there. We had a Laksa which lacked any subtlety in flavour. Just chilli with no lemon grass or other spices detectable. We also had the ginger fish. The ginger sauce was probably the highlight of the whole meal but the fish was weird and not like other mock fish I’ve had before. It was in a roll and had a weird texture and slightly bitter taste

Pros: Ginger sauce, Duck wraps, Very quick service

Fabulous! So many options I was spoiled - Edit
This place is amazing!!
Read moreThere are very limited options in Canberra for a vegan meal but this place is up there. We got the crispy pork which was delicious, friend dumplings and the massaman curry (was a little watery). But drinks were also great. If you’ve been to Sydney it’s sort of like golden lotus as I believe a lot of the fake meats come from the same supplier (Susie spoons butcher). Would come back again and recommend.
Pros: Options , Atmosphere , Taste

WRONG SAUCE and A Little of Sauce Provided :-(( - Edit
I Ordered A Vermicelli Salad Bowl recently ; I Picked " Fish Sauce " BUT The Staff Gave Me " SALTY Soy Sauce " ( Exactly 100 % From Chinese Soy Sauce BOTTLE ).....WRONG Sauce, Indeed :-((( !!! Also The SAUCE in the Container Was Spilled OUT Half of them in A Bag....I Had to Chuck 1/3 ( A Third ) of The Meal ( Vermicelli Salad Bowl ) Straight into The Bin and I Also Sent 3 Emails to Them But Received NO REPLY At All !!! :-(((( VERY BAD Customer Service !!! No Reply from Instagram as well as Facebook EITHER :-(( !!! One Staff member even Tried To Mislead Facebook by Saying that My Account is A Business Account or Ad Account in order NOT To Let My Messages Get ACROSSED via Messenger in Both Facebook and Instagram . How MANIPULATIVE IT is ........I am Totally SHOCKED by Discovering This from Facebook and Instagram Staff :-0 :-0 !!!

Great mains, quick service - Edit
We enjoyed our mains - green curry with mock chicken and stir fried soy fish with salt and chillies. The mock fish wasn’t too fishy which we like but was deliciously crispy. The spring rolls and deep fried wontons were good, but curry puffs were a bit bland. Next time I would skip the entrees to leave more room for mains. There are lots of delicious-looking mains on the menu that I would like to try.

$55 deal - Edit
We had the $55 - 1 entree, 2 mains, rice, 1 dessert. We liked the food and it was a good price. Mock duck wraps for entree were really good. Eggplant claypot needed less sauce and some other vegetables like broccoli, carrot and snow peas. I asked for not spicy and food wasn't spicy which was perfect for my toddler.

Super impressed with the vegan crispy skin duck! - Edit
After being highly recommended to visit Au Lac by a couple of friends that live/have lived in Canberra, I decided to give it a go on this visit. I was super impressed with the vegan crispy skin duck and the corn soup was absolutely delicious and very flavourful. I also had the mushroom fritters which were lovely too, although the batter lacked flavour. And the curry puffs had a delicious subtle curry flavour, although they were not quite cooked long enough. They were still partly frozen in the middle which was a little disappointing and probably the main thing that let them down. Other than that, was still a great meal, would certainly visit again for that delicious vegan crispy skin duck!
Read morePros: All the vegan options!, Vegan crispy skin duck, cooked to perfection!, The corn soup was piping hot and flavourful.
Cons: The curry puffs were still partly frozen., Batter for the mushroom fritter lacked flavour., There’s not one in Albury, NSW where I live!

did not dine royally - Edit
This is a vegan Vietnamese restaurant, which seems to be a family-run business. Their menu is large and it is fun to choose from a variety of dishes.
Read moreThe taste was ok, but also not extraordinary. To be honest, for the name "royal" I would have expected something more refined.
Prices were rather high, although taste, plating and atmosphere did not make up for that… Also ingredients could have been used more generously.
The restaurant is spacious and fits many tables. The storefront is entirely made of glass, so the restaurant feels open and exposed.
Pros: taste ok
Cons: taste could be better, expensive, atmosphere
S.John
I have to agree with you on these points : Yes, the prices are significantly HIGH and the Tastes are not associated with the High Prices at all . Just Average !!! Great vegan food - Edit
We’ve been several times before but kept forgetting to take photos. The crispy chicken is always great. The meal sizes are pretty good! We asked for a combination fried rice but ended up with a normal fried rice and my partner didn’t think it was great. I quite enjoyed the dumpling sauce and the duck wraps (forgot to take photo) was quite nice too.

Top spot in Dickson - Edit
What a great restaurant, wish this was local to us. Great restaurant, good vibe, busy, friendly staff.
Read moreIt’s called AuLac Vegetarian but the menu says no dairy and no eggs, so I’m not sure what else is left other than honey maybe but I didn’t see that on there. Menu also says it’s vegan so maybe it used to be vegetarian.
Anyway top spot. Shame we didn’t have the free loaders along as we could have tried more dishes. We had the Lemongrass Tofu, Eggplant in Claypot Sensation and Steamed Berry Brown Rice. Had lol these as Gluten Free.
Green pawpaw salad with tofu was very good and it is a bit of a staple for us.
Lemongrass tofu was very good, good flavour, shredded lemongrass and some chilli on a bed of lettuce. It is deep fried so crunchy outer and soft inner.
Eggplant claypot was also very good, good flavour. Red berry rice was also a nice change, good serving size as 1 portion.
Shared pot of tea being a good size vegan Vietnamese ice coffee (cold) was also good.
Great meal, will go back when in Canberra next, this would be a regular haunt.
We noticed the oil as we don’t cook with oil so I won’t put that as a Con as it is quite normal when we eat out.
