A very special experience...vegetables here are transformed into delicious works of art! - Edit
A stand-out in Key West for creatively-prepared vegetarian dim sum! Once you enter Atlas Izakaya you will forget that you are steps away from crazy Duval Street in Key West. You will feel like you are in a fine dining restaurant in a big city like New York or Chicago.
Read moreImportant: many of the plant-based dishes contain dairy, so if you are vegan you will need to ask specifically which dishes can be made vegan. Our superstar server told us that a couple owns the restaurant and the wife is vegetarian which is why there are so many delicious plant-based creations on the menu. It would be very helpful if they would pull out all of the vegetarian items on a separate menu with symbols for which ones could be made vegan.
The service was fabulous. This is a beautiful newly-decorated restaurant and you must see the designer restroom! There is a large selection of unique drinks including sake choices that are probably not available anywhere else in Key West.
This is a gourmet experience and not inexpensive. The restaurant was filled with foodies in town for the Key West Food & Wine Festival which is a testament to the chef and quality of ingredients and creativity. The dishes are smaller tapas portions and you will want 2-3 per person to share so the price adds up. Interestingly, my partner ordered seafood dishes and he said he would next time go for sharing the veggie dishes with me since they were so flavorful and a larger amount of food for the price. Due to the prices we as locals unfortunately can't make this one of our weekly regular go-tos, but will definitely return for special occasions and recommend Atlas Izakaya to others.
Pros: Outstanding food taste and presentation, Unique and different items not available elsewhere, Attentive, knowledgeable servers, great atmosphere
Cons: Serves meat and seafood including octopus, Prices are on the high side, Vegan items are not clearly marked on the menu
