Wow! A fish and chip shop with a wealth of vegan options! I tried the vegan tofu cakes and they have blown my mind! So tasty, big and full of flavour with a crisp coating!

Owners seem to be doing what they can to help in these times by feeding the homeless, a lovely touch.
Update: I had the vegan fish cake again and the flavour was completely different. So disappointed compared to the last time. The flavour was way too much garlic and not smokey like before. Have they changed something? If so then they should return back to before as it was nowhere near as nice!

Visited for some early dinner. The place itself is designed lovely and looks very clean. They have a few vegan options, and the lady behind the counter knew exactly what was and wasn't vegan. We felt very welcomed and extremely well catered for after mentioning I am intolerant to gluten.
Read moreI had the tofish battered in rice flour to make it gluten-free, and my partner had the tofu fishcakes. The portions were good, and the chips were pretty tasty, but I can't help but be disappointed by the tofish. I eat tofu often, and this is not great in terms of texture, taste, and seasoning. It did have nori on the bottom to act as fish skin, but I think overall, it lacked seasoning. Maybe they could try marinating it beforehand with some vegan fish sauce, capers, salt, pepper, etc, to give it some flavour.
The tofu fishcake was also disappointing. It tasted heavily of tapande and not at all fishy, I can understand that for some vegans they just want the texture, not the taste, but it was described as a fishcake like patty, which it was not. Unfortunately, the texture of this was also off and was much like the consistency of scrambled tofu.
I really hate to put this place down because they were so lovely, and it's so nice to have vegan options that aren't just chips, but I must be honest with my review. I will try again in a couple of months and see if there has been any improvement.
Pros: Vegan options, Frickles!!, Lovely staff
Cons: Under seasoned tofu, Not great texture

Sadly the tofish and chips were sold out when I visited. Thankfully they have a few options so I still had choice. The portion was decent and the food tasted good!
