Vegan Mofongo - Edit
It was ok. The vegan mofongo was fairly tasty, and the tostones were fine. There was nothing outstanding about either. I do like that they have a vegan aioli (you have to ask for it), which I used for dipping my tostones. The dessert was a little dense/dry, but at least they offered a vegan dessert.
Read moreService was ok. I just think the waitress was over worked. She was running inside and outside by herself, and doing the best she could.
They had live entertainment the night I went, and boy was it entertaining! The outside tables are great for people watching and enjoying the island weather.
It’s nice that they’re vegan friendly. I’d love to see them add more innovation to their vegan offerings in the future.

Delicious vegan option - Edit
I went in May 2023. I ordered the classic mofongo to try something new. I was hesitant about mashed plantains, but it turned out to taste well. They had a way to veganize it, so I had it stuffed with sauteed veggies and it was topped with a sauce that they said was vegan. It is a small restaurant and may be limited seating, which can cause a wait time.

The seating area inside is VERY small. Only about 5 tables so be warned you may have to wait if it’s busy. Food was tasty (some of the best hummus I’ve had) but they were out of several vegan options. I’m not entirely sure that the garlic sauce I got on my Mofongo was truly vegan because it didn’t seem the waiter was clear on what the vegan options were. So overall an ok experience

They had a great menu full of creative vegan options, and I probably could have branched out a little but I was very happy with my hummus and beyond burger!! Definitely would go back to try the gnocchi or other vegan dishes.

They had multiple vegan options and we loved the mofongo with the black bean burger and the vegetables. Really good. Also got the tostones with vegan mayo.

So Many DELICIOUS Vegan Options!! - Edit
Would give five stars if I could (not fully vegan vegetarian), but vegan sampler, salad, gnocchi (so darn good), black bean burger and beyond burger, vegan tender tacos and vegan chicken sandwich (their chicken is sooooo good). GO!!

Great Vegan Option in Condado - Edit
My husband and I were in San Juan just for a weekend wedding and were looking for some vegan food in a crunch. Atabey was within walking distance of popular Condado hotels and the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about vegan cuisine. My husband had a quinoa bowl with a beyond burger patty and veggies. I had the vegan mofongo with veggies and a vegan chicken patty, the food came quickly and was delicious!

Vegan food mostly bland/terrible this time - Edit
We ate here a year ago (in Feb 2022) and recall it being ok, but this time the vegan items we ordered were almost uniformly terrible. The hummus doesn't even taste like hummus, but rather, at best, like merely blended watery canned chick peas, there didn't seem to be any tahini in it. The Black Bean burger was virtually tasteless, totally bland. The Crispy Vegan Chicken Burger was ok but also bland/virtually tasteless.

We didn't try the Classic Mofongo or Vegan Tender Tacos but recall them being good (no guarantees though) and probably what we had last year. If the Mofongo's still vegan-possible it's probably their best dish.
Pros: Good location, Remembered it being good last year
Cons: Most vegan iterms were tasteless/bland/terrible, Server was indifferent and unhelpful

Brilliant service, classy cocktails, and a beautiful symphony of flavors! The vegan options are delicious and there are traditional options for non vegans as well. Highly recommended! We went back for lunch the next day!

Atabey has lots of vegan options considering that it’s a small menu overall. The vegan chickn sandwich with vegan chz was delicious. They are open late so you can get vegan grub and bring your non-vegan friends along. Everyone is happy. I’d give it 5 stars if the platform let me. Nice local spot to support and grab cheap drinks at.

Limited selection but vegan options clearly marked. They have a vegan beyond burger, black bean burger, crispy vegan tacos, hummus plate. The specials board even boasted a vegan mushroom soup.
