Not the best but only vegan place in the area - Edit

Personally I found the salad they put inside the wrap was too stringy. I also found the bean curry thing too bland. Not as good as club mexicana, but the only vegan place in the area, so it’s better than nothing. Great if you are in the area, but I wouldn’t recommend a trip to leather lane just to eat here, unless like me you are bit of a foodie and like trying mew places ;)

Best Vegan Food near Farringdon! - Edit

Astro only have 4 dishes with the addition of 2 specials changing each day.

The food tastes great and is also pretty healthy too! I’ve never been a fan of polenta before but this is seasoned to perfection!

My go-to vegan lunch - Edit

Having recently started working near Chancery Lane station, I was happy to discover this little gem just around the corner from my work. I've been back there many times since, for its tasty and filling "astro polenta alla griglia". With a mix of beans, lentils, polenta, quinoa and rice you get a decent portion of complete protein, which is always a bonus!

Pros: filling, delicious, friendly staff

Cons: wait times of up to 10 min during busy periods, occasionally, some of the lentils/beans can be a l

Vegan alternative on Leather Lane - Edit

I'm very happy to see a vegan food outlet on Leather Lane! The staff is very nice and food perfectly complements (rather meat heavy) Leather Lane. I like coming back for the spicy polenta, stews and salads as the food is not only tasty but also quite abundant and gives enough energy for a day.

Vegan stall at Leather Lane - Edit

It is great to have a vegan stall at Leather Lane. It was also busy when I visited, although that could also be because the service is super slow, I had to wait around d 15min for them to prepare the take away box. I ordered their signature dish, the polenta alla griglia.
The food quality was disappointing. Everything was over cooked, they use low quality oils and to add flavour they make it very spicy.

Pros: all vegan with a massive vegan sign

Cons: low quality of ingredients, slow service

AstroVegania 28 Oct 2017 - Dear Bea_lc,
apologies for your bad experience, we are improving our technique to get faster which is on our benefit to be, it was lunch time and if 15 minutes is what you have waited could have been worse don't you think? :)
How did you get to the conclusion that we use low quality of oil? The Grilled Polenta has to be oiled (unfortunately) or it get attached to the grill, and the oil used is the sunflower oil, all the rest that needs oil goes with extra virgin olive oil, always RAW, even in the preparation instead to fry the onions for the sauce we use WATER and we after add the extra virgin olive oil RAW, these are the all terrific oils that we use! We are trying to change from grilled to baked, not easy but we will beat it! :)
Over cocked? What was over cocked exactly, the stew? That is why it is a stew, right? On my opinion it is a very good stew actually and people love it. Very spicy? Maybe! Sometimes I agree to have cooked extra hot, apologies, someone likes it, but surely is not to hide anything! once again how did you get to that conclusion?
It has been already six months that we are in the market ( where everybody are usual customers ) and I am pleased that we are having very good feedback for our food, that is why you have found us busy, nevertheless we are working very hard trying to improve as well, so please do not hesitate to give us some good advice next time you will pass by.

Filling Street Food from Italian-Influenced Stall - Edit

Its great to see the "V-Word" represented in Leather Lane Street food market which has quite meat heavy stalls. I tried the "Astro Polenta Alla Griglia" - a takeaway box chock full of herby grilled polenta, bean and lentil stew, (with a spicy kick!), brown rice, brocolli cream plus spinach, rocket and tomoato salad. The portion is very generous and the food very filling, tasty and at £5.95 is good value for London. Chef Fabio and his team are friendly and genuine too.

Pros: Great flavours, Generous portions, Good value (for London!)

Cons: Maybe too oily for the very health concious
