Amazing spot - Edit
Only one vegan option was available when i visited, but the Mango Passionfruit slice was sooo good and the location itself is so remarkable it's easily worth the four stars

One questionable option - Edit
Don't recommend this to any vegan person. To say limited choice would be an overstatement. The views are exceptional, though. Just bring your own food.

Awesome place to eat - Edit
Eating on top of the world, with friendly staff and nice food. How could it get better? I had a falafel wrap and very nice tea with soy milk. Eyed up the very nice looking vegan chocolate berry cheesecake 😉

Yummy wrap - Edit
We got a delicious vegan falafel wrap, happily would have had a second one! Great views and they do have oat milk etc for coffees. Also had a vegan cheesecake in the cabinet.

Great coffee with amazing view - Edit
Enjoyed a lovely astro-themed cappuccino and a vegan magnum icecream. That was a few months back though, not sure if they are still active and working.

Limited options currently - Edit
Not even hot drinks. Call them to verify. Lack of tourist due to closed borders is difficult for this great location.

Don’t miss this place! - Edit
It isn’t often that we’d call a non-veg spot a “must-see” on HappyCow, but this one has five great qualities that earn that distinction.
Read more1. The views from the cafe are world-class. Photos don’t do them justice (though they’ll give you a hint). The mountains, the turquoise lakes... an awe-inspiring panorama.
2. Excellent vegan coffees. We had the best vegan cappuccinos we’ve had anywhere in NZ (coconut, almond, or soy milks available, and I preferred the coconut). I fancied one for the road and they were happy to serve it in my own bamboo travel cup.
3. Delicious vegan sweets. There was a raspberry-coconut pie (marked vegan in the display case), which was delicious, and also some vegan ice cream bars (though not all are vegan, so look closely at ingredients).
4. Ecological sensitivity. They serve drinks in glass when dining in, and for take-away they use eco-friendly containers and are happy to let you use your own reusable containers. They also recycle almost everything, that including napkins, etc.
5. Very warm and friendly service. The sweet folks running this place were kind and very helpful even when they were slammed with a rush of customers.
Note that there’s an $8 fee (per vehicle) to use the private road to get there, so be prepared for that unless you’re hiking up. The cafe closes at 5:30 (4:30 in winter) though during our visit they were still kindly taking last-minute orders a bit beyond that) and the park itself closes at 6pm (5pm in winter).

Spectacular view and very good vegan eats - Edit
The view from this cafe may well be one of the most beautiful in the Southern Alps, overlooking Lake Tekapo and the surrounding area. We were pleasantly surprised by the vegan offerings and enjoyed a warm falafel wrap and a coffee with soy milk (they also had almond and coconut) out on the terrace.
