Essential Vegan Fine Dining - Edit
Following chef Luke from his previous restaurant, we were delighted to find he has retained his touch with the move to the other side of the UK.
Read moreWe were thrilled to hear about the opening of Aster, as this blend of vegan fine dining and foraged food is unique. It's a 5 hour journey to get there from home, so we stayed overnight at a nearby hotel. Broadstairs itself is a pretty little seaside town that's worth visiting.
On arrival, we were greeted and shown to our table in the snug dining area. Sparky the dog was happily snoozing in his little bed and upbeat music played quietly. The ambiance is smart but laid back, with an open kitchen and cosy table set-up.
The menu gives nothing away, with just an overview of the food courses. The wine list is petite and precise - something for most palates without being overburdened by a plethora of unnecessary additions.
I will leave the photos to do the talking on our experience, but every course was a delight. From winter comfort food flavours to the delicate signs of spring, it was seasonal, interesting and unconventional.
All I can say to you, reader, is that you need to visit. If you're looking at reviews and debating whether it's worth it, stop wasting time and get booked in!

Fantastic meal at Aster. Luke is very talented and I was very much looking forward to eating here, having been a visitor to his last restaurant in Barmouth.

Great tasting, creative cooking and a lovely atmosphere - Edit
I loved it! The food was amazingly creative and tasty. Every course was a wonderful surprise and I learnt some new things to try this summer! I feel so lucky to have a new restaurant like this in East Kent.

Brilliant dining experience at new vegan restaurant - Edit
Delicious and creative dishes, warm atmosphere, and very friendly service. You can tell the hard work that goes into the restaurant from the moment you're welcomed through the door, to when you leave with a full and happy belly. Ingredients are locally sourced, inspired by British cuisine, with the 5 courses we had from the set menu also bringing in inspiration from Japan. The menu changes weekly, so we'll definitely be going back. Thanks Luke!
