Our meals were not hot when they came out - sent them back and they'd merely microwaved then minimally so they were still too cool. I would have expected new meals too not replated same meal - especially at those prices. They did offer one complimentary dessert but did make a big deal of it.
Read moreMeal sizes were small. It's a general bugbear of mine but both main vegan dishes contained no protein or nothing substantial so was left hungry.

Separate vegan menu with lots of amazing options. We have the chefs tasting menu which was 3 courses, a total of 9 dishes, generous portions and everything was plate licking good.

Amazing vegan menu - Edit
So good, the staff helped a lot with the options and gave good recommendations. Nice atmosphere. My partner is a chef and omnivore and even he was impressed with my vegan meals😄maybe try book ahead, we only got a table because there was a cancellation.

Came here for the vegan menu on a date night- Everything was great except it does add up very quick and ended up being a very expensive night out- but the food was pretty good nonetheless.

Outstanding vegan menu - Edit
Risotto was one of the best things we've ever had. Ever. Pizza Margherita was sensational, with generous amounts of mozzarella (very important!) Service was excellent, very efficient and polite staff. They offered the vegan menu along with the regular menu when we were seated. And it's a comprehensive vegan menu too with legit Italian dishes, so you don't miss out on all the fun.

Nice food and friendly staff. I was concerned about their vegan knowledge and asked for a vegan chai latte. They said it was vegan if they made it with soy milk, but I asked them to check if there was milk power in the chai mixture and there was. Bit concerning that they would have served it to me without checking.

Pleasant enough but didn't quite live up to hype. The platter we ordered was probably close to worth the $30 price tag with quite a variety of well cooked vegetables but strangely only one small piece of cheese.
Read moreThe service was odd at best; we were not offered dessert when we finished our mains and had to try and flag someone down to do so. It seems their priority is just to move people along as quickly as possible and the interactions with customers feel forced.

We forgot to make a booking, but the staff juggled some tables around and squeezed us in. Separate vegan food and drink menu made ordering easy. Great atmosphere and really tasty dishes. The sweet potato and mushroom dish was the highlight

Good and bad - great they have a vegan menu that is so popular, with a good pizza, but the other dishes were small and over-priced. Excited to try the vegan antipasto platter for $32, but very disappointing when it arrives with only two small cubes of vegan cheese! Similarly, the pumpkin dish that was a special for $20 consisted of only three small slices of pumpkin and two whole uneatable onions! Otherwise, patrons are squashed on to ridiculously small tables not fit for a tapas menu.

They have a full, separate vegan menu of Italian tapas plus desserts and a beer and wine list.
Read moreWe ordered some bread; bruschetta; arancini; sauteed broccolini and asparagus; orange polenta dessert plus the panna cotta desserts.
Everything was exquisite and the staff were lovely. I've added photos. We're Italian and we thought it was pretty damn good. Plus the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.
The serving sizes for each dish are quite small but they weren't too expensive so just make sure you order, maybe, 1.5 dishes per person or more if you have really hungry people.
The only bad thing was the toilets which are really gross. They were like the male toilets at a dingy bar (I'm a woman, I'm used to cleanliness). Also, it would have been nicer if they brought out all the food at once, not one at a time. Minus, like, desserts obviously.

Finally, vegan options! - Edit
I live in Mornington and there's only a limited amount of vegan options for dinner. I'm so happy there's finally somewhere to go and have more than 1-2 options on the menu. I've been to one of their vegan nights and it was awesome and really good value for money. Can't wait to go back!

We love this place! Friendly owner and staff who make you feel very welcome. Then there's the food... The chef knows how to create some delicious flavours. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful! We happily drive an hour just to eat here.

We absolutely loved the vegan degustation at Assaggini tonight. Lovely creative dishes and great service despite it being a full house! Great value also. Can't wait to go back and sample some of the vegan dishes on their daily menu ?
