Good food, lots to try - Edit
Our first time here while in town for a concert. We were very excited for a fully vegan place! They have a large menu with sections for Thai, Chinese, and Japanese options. We ordered:
Read moreFried wonton app - 8/10. 6 pieces, light and crispy, creamy melty cheese inside, delicious dipping sauce. Would order again.
Yakiudon with "pork" - hubby gave it a 7/10. I thought it was an 8/10. The "pork" was delicious, chewy noodles, sweet & savory sauce. Would order again.
Chow mein with "beef" - kiddo gave it a 9/10, even though she didn't like the "beef" and didn't like most of the veggies (cabbage, carrots, onion) lol. But she liked the rest. I thought it was an 8/10, very tasty, I loved the faux beef, thought it was super flavorful. Would order again.
Tonkatsu ramen - 6/10, was just ok. The broth was tasty, but not a lot of depth. The ramen noodles were good. The toppings were lacking. I wanted more veg, and the "pork" slices were weird, like a cheap deli meat style. The pan fried tofu on top was good. I would definitely get something else next time.
Mango smoothie - 10/10 from the kiddo. She loved it. Was sad they didn't have popping boba, just regular boba.
Overall an enjoyable meal, would definitely go back to try more things!
Pros: Fully vegan, Diverse menu, Decent prices
Cons: Menu items hit or miss

The only vegan restaurant in the area - Edit
It’s great to have a vegan restaurant in an area with no other vegan restaurants around. The space is really big with some interesting decor, and the menu is extensive. So many options! Drink menu is great too with lots of tea and smoothie options.
Read moreWe tried the pho, tom yum noodle, yellow curry, larb tofu, mango smoothie, and green tea with mango. The pho was pretty disappointing and did not look like the picture in the menu- it came with no lime and no basil and no fresh greens on top, and when we requested lime and basil they said they didn’t have any basil but were able to give us two slices of lemon. The broth for the pho was also really simple and didn’t have any notes of anise, it was probably just some vegetable stock. Definitely don’t recommend the pho.
Everything else was really good! And the drinks were wonderful- not too sweet. I’d swing by here again and try some other menu items.
Pros: Extensive menu, Fair prices
Cons: Vegan pho wasn’t good

Wonderful food with a wide variety of options - Edit
I was so happy to discover this place when I was in Bakersfield a while ago and everything I ate here was amazing. What impressed me the most was the wide variety of unique options here, such as the vegan honey walnut shrimp, which was incredibly good! In fact, we ordered quite a few different dishes with the vegan shrimp in them; all of them were delicious and the vegan shrimp was some of the best vegan seafood I’ve had in a while. The chow mein topped with vegan ham was another one of my favorites and was remarkably filling with incredible flavor. Everything I had here was excellent, and I encourage anyone in the area to try this place.

Yummy All Vegan Asian Food - Edit
Cute little family owned small business. This place has an extensive menu with so many yummy dishes. We have been a couple times & the service is great & the food is even better.
Read moreWe have tried many different dishes & shared & enjoyed them all. Decent size portions.
We've tried Chow Mein, Udon, Miso Ramen, Wontons, Egg Rolls, Boba Tea, Veggie Tempura, SteamedVeggies, Fried Rice & a couple more.
Wontons were kinda small but really good.
The egg rolls are more like fried spring rolls.
I haven't ever remembered to get pics of the food before digging in 🤣

We stopped on our way from San Francisco to San Diego. Only fully vegan restaurant in a long stretch. And it was amazing. The food is delicious. Large portions. And the staff soooo sweet! Worth the detour from the 5 to check this place out.

My go to Asian food spot - Edit
Asian Vegan Bistro is close to home. When I went vegan I started eating here. It's a nice, quiet atmosphere (I hate noisy places) and the service is great. The food is quality too. Everything I have ordered has been at least good and a couple items were fantastic. The good items I just don't know what I am ordering. But I am adventurous so I like to order things I have never eaten.
Read moreThe best thing is here they everything's vegan and they have multiple Asian countries types of food. You don't need to always ask if something is vegan or worry about cross-contamination.
Pros: Service, Huge variety, Quiet atmosphere
Cons: None

Not bad - Edit
Wanted to support the only all vegan place in the area. They've got a ton of options but the quality was hit or miss. The aco cucumber roll had some kind of mayo on it, which I thought was odd. The Thai dishes were probably best at our table (ordered Thai and Japanese).
Read moreThey could use some upgrading of the interior, but the prices are very reasonable, which I appreciate.
Worth checking out and hopefully they'll manage to survive.

Delicious road trip stop - Edit
Really big portions and tasty. Thai tea slushy kept me caffeinated during my road trip. Vegan restaurant was a welcome sight in an area that otherwise doesn’t have a lot of options.

Nostalgic and cruelty free - Edit
This place offers amazing food and kind service. I had the orange chikn, Mongolian “beef”, fried tofu, miso soup and garlic and broccoli. The fried tofu was okay, pretty underwhelming, but everything else was perfect. We got to choose between white or brown rice and although we arrived 10min until closing, they let us order for take away! Would 100% return.

A great choice for Bakersfield Vegans - Edit
I tried this place when it first opened and wasn’t *super* impressed but I remember enjoying it enough.
Read moreThat said, I moved away for 2 years, recently came back, and wanted something vegan the other night. Realizing that Distract Cafe (formerly Vida Vegan) serves very limited vegan food now and has different menus throughout the day, I decided to give Asian Bistro another shot.
I’m so glad I did because the orange chicken was delicious. The rice was well cooked and the broccoli was very well done - not over or undercooked.
The spring rolls were very good too; the only downside being the celery in them. That’s a *me* problem because I simply don’t love it in general.
They have a ton of options in their menu, making it a place I think anyone looking for vegan Asian food can love.
Pros: Options, Pricing, Portions
Cons: Celery in spring rolls

I want to give it a 5! - Edit
It's great... the only vegan restaurant in Bakersfield. There are no others, they braved the minefield. The service was good. I just picked up the food and ate it in my hotel room, but the ambiance in the establishment seemed okay. The food was just okay. First, the gluten-free options are surprisingly limited. Nothing at all in the Japanese menu, no sushi rolls, only 2 items in the Chinese menu, but several things in the Thai and appetizer menus are GF. The Pineapple Fried Rice was good, the Pad See Eaw was okay (a bit bland and odd texture). The fresh rolls were also a bit bland and "thrown together" but the lettuce inside was actually quite crisp and fresh. The sauce that came with them was just overly salty with no other endearing underlying flavor. I was just passing through, so I don't think that I'll be back, but if I do find myself back in Bakersfield, I'll probably try again. Different dishes though.

Fantastic Vegan Food! - Edit
Absolutely DELICIOUS vegan food! 💚🌱✨
Read moreExtensive menu, so many options!!
Started with vegetable tempura, the batter was light and crispy, and the veggies (broccoli, carrot, onion, green pepper) were perfectly cooked, crunchy, not soft!
Had the king oyster mushroom ramen dish, very tasty! Also had the orange chik’n with broccoli. The orange sauce was so light and perfectly sweet, but not too sweet, it was so good! Finished up with mango sticky rice dessert, SO GOOD!!
Our wait person was so friendly and very attentive! Highly recommend this restaurant!💚🌱✨

Asian cuisines - Edit
Extensive menu featuring dishes from different Asian cuisines. I had the pad see ew, which was very tasty, and the tofu laab, which was fine but could have used more herbs. I liked the location with its original atmosphere, although the aquarium is a bit odd for a 100% vegan restaurant.

Delicious - Edit
We ordered the fried wontons, sautéed tofu with yummy sauce, crispy enoki, fried rice, tofu larb, and one other dish of which I don’t remember the name. It was all great. The place itself has a bit of retro/worn-out look, but I’m so happy I ate here. It was during a road trip in California and this was one of the places where we didn’t feel rushed to eat, which I also appreciated. Would definitely recommend, also if you have omnivores in your company.

Excellent Flavor! - Edit
This is my favorite place in town. The food is wonderfully flavored and NOT oily which tends to be the case with most restaurants. The avocado cucumber and mixed vegetable rolls are 2 of my regularly ordered selections. Seaweed salad, tofu larb, yellow curry, and spicy eggplant. All so good we never have food left over to take home.

Large menu of various Asian cuisines - Edit
This place has a huge menu with a lot of different Asian cuisines. Everything we have had is pretty good but maybe if they limited the menu more the food could be better. Have asked for extra spicy every time and still served not spicy at all. Every time we have been, it’s been completely empty at lunch and dinner, and we stand around waiting for someone to seat us for a while. Last time we almost left because we were waiting for almost 10 minutes. That being said, would still go back.

Cons: Can’t get them to make something actually spicy
