A warm welcome in a beautiful part of the world - Edit
We were given a very warm welcome on arrival at Ashtree Guest House by Jane and John and their canine companions. Their lovely thatched cottage is in a beautiful part of the world, which – enticed mainly by the offer of vegan hospitality - we may otherwise have missed. Kinvara is a lovely little town with a great local produce market and traditional music session, and the surrounding area is stunning. Our en suite room was warm and comfortable with space for 3 adults to fit comfortably as long as two don't mind sharing a large double bed. Breakfast was a feast with some home made items, and included porridge, veggie sausages, spinach, mushrooms, baked beans, lentil bake, home made tomato sauce and oat and raisin bread for a sweet finish. We chose to take up the offer of the evening meal on both nights and weren't disappointed being served red Thai curry with rice/noodles, spicy goujons followed by chocolate cake with raspberries on the first night, and a home made seitan pie with mashed potato, home grown green beans and gravy followed by a delicious fruit salad with fruit yoghurt the following night. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, and their local knowledge was invaluable and we were made to feel very welcome. We didn't want to leave and would definitely go back!
