Great spot for MLXG

Really enjoyed our MLXG here! Some other reviews mentioned this as well, but the sauce had a bit more of a peanut-y flavor (and was less spicy/oily). I did have to ask if everything was vegan, but then one of the employees walked me through some of the things that contained egg.
We did have a hard time finding this place (it's mismarked on Google Maps) - know that it's underground in one of the malls connected to the subway station.

My All-Time Comfort Food

Ascend is the only vegetarian store in SG that is dedicated to serving good quality mala and soup. You can choose from wide varieties of veggies, veg products and noodles for your mala and broth. The largest offered so far and the price is by weighing your selections. Usually cost sgd$10-$20 depending on how much you took. My favourites are the mala tang soup, pumpkin soup and herbal soup with knife-cut noodles. They uses fresh knife-cut noodles instead of the instant ones. I have to say the soup broth options are nicer than the dry mala. Do consider revisiting the store if you only tried the dry mala before.
I had already patron the shop more than 20 times ever since it was opened. This is my favourite place to go to for some comfort food and pre-concert happiness. It is conveniently located at Esplanade MRT station, just a few MRT stops away from Stadium station. The serving size is also huge so you may want to consider to share with your family and friends.

Happy find!

We were lucky they had something special today (mushroom broth). Happy to have a reasonable selection of ingredients to choose from!

Must try when in Singapore

A big buffet full of vegetables and vegeterian options awaits you. Our first dish as we arrived in Singapore and it was a great start. It‘s not easy to find, you have to go down to Esplanade MRT station

Pros: Choice, Freshness, Taste

Cons: Location is hard to find

Vegan-Friendly Mala

Allium-free vegetarian eatery serving dry or soup mala; there are other soup bases available too. The ingredients available aren’t labelled, but the staff can advise on which soup bases and toppings are vegan (mostly vegan except a few mock meats and egg dishes). I haven’t eaten mala in years and went a bit too crazy with the toppings so it ended up rather pricey HAHA please take note that it costs $3.30 per 100g, minimum $10. Connected to Esplanade MRT.

Mediocre Ma La Experience

In our quest to find the best vegan Ma La in Singapore, we tried this place. But sadly, neither ingredients nor sauce were tasty. It was spicy without any numbness and somewhat watery. Mock meat and tofu were average. We were unlucky and there was no rice left although the restaurant was some more hours open. Despite having glasses, we only got a plastic cup. All in all, it does not come close to other ma la places.

Healthy, Fresh and satisfies the Mala cravings

I have dined her before and have tried both mala soup and dry versions. My favourite is the dry version 100%.
Very tasty and the veggies are fresh.
It's not as oily like the typical mala places.
Great service too!
Definitely grab that Sesame sauce and concoct your own dipping sauce.

Love the vegan fish soup most

I enjoyed drinking their soup base while getting satisfied eating the ingredients with their mala sauce and sesame sauce etc. Surprisingly the vegan fish soup was the best (a mixture of soya milk, light herbal broth etc, very unique and refreshing), only available during the weekend, highly recommend.

Herbal soup base was good too, still recommend but Arashi, Greendot and D'life serve better herbal soup than them... Tomato soup base was light yet tasty too, recommend.

Decided to skip their mala as for sure the numbness and spiciness level won't be enough for me, was told by the staff that it was the same mala sauce used in cooking, which i finished at least 2 plates during each visit lol.

So tasty and vegan friendly

Staff were so welcoming on our first trip to Singapore and I was delighted by the vegan protein options. It was so nice to be able to customize my bowl too and spicy means spicy here!! Highly recommend this place!

Food Review

Located at the exit of MRT, seating is limited. We ordered one Mala veggie and another Soupy Mala… cost is 28/kg. Liked the dry Mala veggie more than the soupy Mala.

Pros: Good quality and taste

Cons: Expensive , Getting seat can be challenge sometimes

Tasty & healthy broth

Tried tomato broth with selected ingredients such as spinach, yam, beancurd, fried beancurd skin, and king oyster mushroom.

$2.89/ 100 gm with min 300 gm of order.

Their broth does not contain msg.

Various online payment but there isn't Grabpay. I use Paylah.

Pros: Simple setup, Decent food

Cons: Limited seating area

Good food and service

Allium-free vegetarian!!

The mala mix is a healthier option where they mix the mala and ingredients together. Different from the usual mala where they stir fry.

And you will not taste the “numb aka 麻” from the peppercorns as they use sesame for the “ma”-la portion instead. So be prepared for only spicyness.

There’s a small condiment section for you too.

Not so oily Mala

I tried all 4 type of house menu
I like mala more be it soup or dry. It is so satisfying after the meal.
My girls missed n craving for their foods always. I’m not a herbal person but heard it is the best seller among all.

Pros: Choose the spiciness u want , More side snacks now n change periodically

Fresh and Healthy Vegetarian Cuisine

Meatless Monday, ate a super big bowl of noodle!

New vegetarian eatery at Esplanade Exchange, serving Vegetarian Mala, but you get to choose non Mala soup-based (herbal or tomatoes) if you are not a Mala Fan.

Fresh ingredients. Minimum 300g (S$2.98 per 100g). If you are a solo diner and a small eater, it may be a little tough to finish all.

I had herbal soup-based with noodle or you can pair with rice. Love it. Delicious and you can have those rare ingredients like potatoes, pumpkin, lotus in the soupy noodle. Mock meat available too.

Clean and cosy dining environment. It was crowded during lunchtime. Go early or go for late lunch.
