Unique and Affordable... - Edit
AS220 Food is a fun, unique and affordable place in the heart of downtown PVD. The menu has a handful of mainstays and several items that change every 3-4 months. A recent visit featured a vegan charcuterie plate and an amazing gnocchi dish. And old standby is the simple RKT - Rice, Kale and Tofu. Unfortunately, (with the open kitchen) on more than one occasion, I've seen the same utensils simultaneously used on both vegan and meat items.

Cons: Small kitchen - same utensils on meat and vegan.

Great vegan ramen - Edit
Love the vegan selection here, and they do good deals on beer too! The space can get pretty crowded so go during a down time.

Vegan Wings! - Edit
My friend and I shared bbq wings and a sandwich! It was the perfect amount of food and the cauliflower wings were sooo good and cheap for wing night!

Great vegan options that aren’t vegan chains - Edit
I got the seitan buffalo sandwich. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was good. The homemade chips were too oily for my taste. Really cool place. Def recommend supporting.

Yum! - Edit
Happy Providence vegan restaurant week! Came to finally check this place out because of their posted specials - can we just say YUM. The vegan ramen was delicious - perfect level of spice and flavor. We will definitely be coming back to try other things on their regular menu.

AS220 vs. my sugar tooth - Edit
I just love the vibe and ethics of AS220, trying to help artists come together while serving meals for all! The knead donuts are a killer and they have so many yummy vegan options there (I had a spring roll... yum!) I am blown away :) It is pricy, but I think it’s worth it considering what it is that you are paying for and I’ve already gone back twice for some more filling donuts that help suppress my sugary desires.

Decent prices, good atmosphere - Edit
I wasn't all that impressed with my meal (I got the vegan teriyaki sandwich). But I've heard good things about other items on their menu. The people at the counter were nice and accommodating. Its refreshing to find a restaurant with plenty of vegan options that doesn't break the bank!

Big Hearts - Edit
I traveled from Boston and put this place on my list of places to visit. I arrived at about 3:45pm and the sign outside said they opened at 4:00pm. I went to feed my meter and came back at 4:00pm. The manager told me the sign was wrong and that they open at 5:00pm. However she was nice enough to let me sit in the restaurant so I didn't have to wait in the cold. She also brought me some "sun tea" and some vegan chili to warm me up. Now that was nice!
Read moreI ordered the vegan mac and cheese ...not sure who cooked it but I had to ask for them to make it again, it was too salty to eat. However, the 2nd time around I could tell that it was made well...nice chunks of broccoli and not too salty. I don't think I enjoyed it as much as other reviewers or other vegan mac and cheese dishes I've had, but it was a good effort.
I'd go back and have the tea and chili again and the people are very nice. It is worth a visit.
Pros: Nice staff, Good vegan chili, Accommodating

a must visit when in RI! - Edit
On a quick trip to RI for Waterfire. We mostly picked this restaurant because of its proximity to waterfire. I'm SO HAPPY we came here. They have the BEST vegan Mac and cheese I've ever had. The watermelon gazpacho and crispy chickpeas are also amazing. Very reasonable prices and a well stocked bar, too. There is dog-friendly outdoor seating.

No complaints! - Edit
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and ordered four dishes: arugula salad with heirloom tomato and mozzarella, crispy chickpeas, RKT for me, and a sea food dish for him. Everything was tasty and came in generous portions. The BF even had leftovers for next-day meals. If I had to nitpick, though, I'd say that the chickpeas were actually quite mushy and that the tofu in the RKT was plain and not marinated as advertised. The whole dish was a bit bland and could use more seasoning, but then a few shakes of S&P were good enough as a quick fix. These were just minor issues considering the overall quality and quantity for the $32 total we paid. I also liked their deep support for local farmers and vendors. No complaints really!

A lemony experience - Edit
We ordered 9 dishes for the 4 of us (2 teenagers), it was too much food. The small plates weren't as small as we expected.
Read moreGrilled tomato and black bean soup with fresh tomatoes and vegan sour cream. This was pretty nice, we would order it again. Flavorful.
Corn succotash, the kids liked this a lot. With some salt, it was interesting. (small plate)
Vegan mac n' cheese with broccoli. At first the cook made us cow cheese mac n' cheese by mistake, but we caught it before trying it, so be sure to make sure what kind you get. The kids liked this pretty well, and I kind of liked it myself--it was tossed with bread crumbs and the broccoli was cooked just right. But I did not detect that much "cheese" in the dish, which maybe is just fine given that vegan cheese really can't be used in the same quantities as cow cheese. (large plate)
Crispy chick peas, highlight of the meal, really interesting and the one dish I thought about trying to make at home. (small plate)
Black bean veggie burger--too lemony and lacked other interesting flavor. Way too soft to stand up to the extremely tough super duty roll that had a diameter 1 1/2 times bigger than the burger (they call it "pillow bread" seemed stronger than a Kaiser roll, our kids, one with a chipped (and repaired) front tooth and the other with braces could not begin to eat this and it was impossible to cut with a knife).
Summer Greens (kale, collard greens, spinach) sautéed in onions and garlic, it lacked salt and interesting taste, maybe it wasn't cooked long enough or had too much lemon, but it wasn't as satisfying as a dish full of greens usually is. (small plate)
Roasted green beans (lemony) with fresh tomatoes. Pretty lemony, beans undercooked and a bit chewy. (small plate)
Roasted Tofu sautéed with shitake mushrroms, bok choy peppers… and rice. Lemony, not much salt. Not really very interesting. (big dish)
Red pepper hummus with pita bread. The pita bread char-broiled nicely, served warm. But the hummus was more lemony than I found appealing. (medium plate)
Pros: Locally sourced, Large portions, even for small plates, Large number of vegan options
Cons: Connected to a performing arts space, Not so kid-friendly, Smoking at outdoor seating

They serve good food for a great cause. The barley risotto cakes are very flavorful as well as the grilled cheese. It is also fun to watch them cook.

Yes please - Edit
I had the cajun spiced tofu with sweet potato puree and greens. It was delicious. Soundtrack provided by a seemingly spontaneous group playing Irish folk music. It was fairly busy on a Saturday night, with just a few spots at the counter near the grill, so we got to see our food prepared.

good stuff - Edit
Ate here a couple of times and I'm really happy that this place exists. It's comfy, cozy, delicious, local, feels healthy...and it's DOWNTOWN...where the vegan pickins are slim!!! I've had both the soups which are delicious...the vegan chicken soup comes with fresh kale and purple carrots and is excellent! The Spicy Portugese sandwich feels a little bit shameful but is a sure-fire hangover cure. The Sweet potato puree is magic and the vegan Mac-n-cheese made me so full that I felt like I had to roll down the street when I was done. The staff all seemed nice and I love knowing that the restaurant is supporting local farmers. There's also a separate bar.

Cons: needs more sweets
