Good vegan breakfast - Edit
Located in the centre of Oxford, this little place offers some vegan options. The vegan/vegetarian options are clearly marked.
Read moreThey can make the brunch vegan which is basically an English breakfast minus the eggs and they use vegan butter.
Tables are located upstairs where you can also see some art work.
Friendly and fast service.
Good option is you need a place for a quick bite.
Pros: Decent vegan options , Friendly and fast service
Cons: A tad pricey for what you’re getting, More vegan options welcome

Love it here - Edit
It's got loads of options - I come here fairly often! Great for bringing non-vegan friends too. My favourites are the vegan cheese and vegetable panini and the baked potato loaded with hummus and roasted veg!

Hit and miss - Edit
We had the vegan brunch (big brekky) and the vegan panini. The former was pretty delicious, nice and hot and generous servings. The sausages were a bit eh. The panini on the other hand was described as "disgusting" by my gf. I was too sacred to try it, the cheese and sausage were both pretty gross looking. Nice choccy milkshake!

For ££ you could get smth better - Edit
Panini sandwiches were so so... Not really worth the price. The coffee was okay but nothing special. Nice interior with a little exhibition of local artists in the café which I admired.

Good but not amazing - Edit
I had the kale kick smoothie which was absolutely delicious and so refreshing. However I also had the vegan houmous and falafel salad which was decent but there were far too many olives and seeds that I ended up taking most of them off. The falafels were also quite dry which was a shame although the meal was still enjoyable.

Cute place - Edit
I had the vegan lemon/chia/ pistachio cake and vegan strawberry milkshake. It's a cute place with good prices. The milkshake was watered down. The cake was really tasty, but it was on the dryer side. #Veganuary

Food not nice - Edit
Pretty cafe with lovely art to buy. Unfortunately food is not nice. We had three things and didn't like any. Dry gluten free bread. Normal bread better. Tomatoes and avocado not ripe. Falafel very salty, hummus tasted sour and cheap. Very disappointing. Brownie dry and awful.

Hot chocolate - Edit
Just had a hot chocolate and it was seriously one of the best I've ever been served.
Read moreThere are also books to browse while you're there, and we enjoyed reading poetry with our drinks.
Busy cafe with limited seating and all of it upstairs (across two separate floors) so not suitable for those with limited mobility.
Pros: Brilliant hot chocolate
Cons: Seating is up either one or two flights of stairs, And the toilet was down in the basement!

Handy for lunch - Edit
Vegan options are labelled, although when you eat in the baguettes and panni are served with non-vegan coleslaw as a default so make sure you mention that you are vegan when ordering. I opted for the aubergine, artichoke and vegan cheese baguette which was really quite tasty. The vegan brunch was also good and reasonable value.
Read moreYou order at the counter and then find a seat. We went up to the second floor which was a bit quieter, although there were several tables that hadn’t been cleared and the tables could have been cleaner (this was late morning so not just a lunchtime rush issue).
Pros: Vegan options, Useful central location, Reasonable prices
Cons: Not all vegan

Vegan panini - Edit
Some good vegan lunch options at the Art Cafe. I went for the vegan panini which was stuffed with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and aubergine with vegan cheese and mayo. The panini was massive and really tasty. They had about five other vegan luch options plus some vegan cakes ☺️

Fresh fruit smoothie - Edit
We had an early morning drink here and it was so lovely. Gorgeous outdoor seating area with outdoor drink stand. Variety of fresh fruit and juice smoothies available. I had the tropical one with passion fruit - delicious. Lovely staff. Great location by new Westgate shopping centre. Always good to find fruit smoothies without dairy in. Range of plant milks for hot drinks too.

English Breakfast - Edit
My boyfriend ordered the Vegan Brunch (like English breakfast) and I got the baguette with marinated tofu. The baguette was alright but the brunch was sooo good I had to order it for myself even though I was so full. But I couldn’t resist.

Don't bother - Edit
We needed breakfast and this was the nearest place...which was unfortunate. We had the veganised porridge with blueberries which was OK and the vegan breakfast baguette which was quite awful. Not good.

Great place for vegan food in Oxford - Edit
We returned to the Art Cafe about a year from our first visit and were really pleased that the number of vegan options on the menu has increased and that they are all clearly labelled. There is a lot to choose from and everything we tried was tasty!
Read moreThere's also a good selection of drinks, too and you can get them with soya or almond milk.
The cafe itself has a really chilled atmosphere, too, with artwork for sale on the walls spread over three floors.
You're pretty limited when it comes to vegan options in Oxford, so we really recommend stopping by the Art Cafe!
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Reasonable prices, Friendly staff

mixed feelings - Edit
It's a nice place, central location and outdoor seating, with vegan options clearly marked. Lots of falafel, tofu, roast veg on baguettes, wraps, jacket potatoes and salad. They also do vegan chilli and pasta. They have almond and soya milk, and at least one cake/bar suitable for vegans (apple and date shortbread this time).
Read moreMy marinated tofu baguette with peppers and olives was lovely and tasty, on a very fresh granary baguette. My partner's falafel and hummus wrap (although I was certain I ordered it as a baguette they didn't take the "customer is always right" mindset!) was dry and underfilled and a bit disappointing.
Worst: both came with a side of coleslaw, definitely not vegan, which they removed when we complained. This shouldn't happen on a vegan-marked dish!
Pros: marinated tofu, decent range of options, fair pric
Cons: (not) "vegan" coleslaw, poor falafel
KathrynLamb
have been twice since and they're still serving non-vegan coleslaw with vegan sandwiches if you eat in - be sure to ask for it without (even if we shouldn't have to on vegan-marked dishes)

Good place for a coffee or food to go - Edit
Went there a bit desperate for some plant based options. Had a nice cappuccino (they had both almond and soy milk available) with cookies (vegan). The cookies weren't on display or advertised anywhere and were rather normal...no chocolate chip cookies, as I had read here - which is what made me ask for them. The place is quite lovely, good for a stop, full of art and light. We bought some baguettes to go but it was upsetting the amount of options full of animal products. The one I had was quite nice - with marinated tofu, olives and roasted peppers.
Read moreThey were nice but someone actually told me they didn't really know what veganism means.
Pros: Nice people, Plant based milks

Nice, high-quality café - Edit
Been here a couple of times and they've actually started doing vegan chocolate chip/double chocolate cookies! They're marked as such, you can't miss 'em.
Read moreThey also do things like a marinated tofu & olives seeded bageutte, vegan versions of lots of their drinks (I think I have a soy chai vanilla latte there?) and a few nice flapjack-y type things. It's a good spot for lunch, either to eat in or take-away and it's very central (next to Bond Square, opposite the Westgate Centre).
Pros: central, quality food, showcases local artists
Cons: A touch expensive for regular outings
