Great food, good location - Edit
The menu has 2 vegan meals and then there were 2 or 3 more meals on the chalk board, 2 vegan and one that could be made vegan. So I’m guessing on any given day you could have 4 or 5 options to choose from. On the menu were a BLT with cheese, salad and potatoes wedges which was very filling and tasty, but served more like a burger on a bun vs bagel sandwich (all vegan of course). The other meal was deep fried tofu balls (we think it was tofu) and a savory dipping sauce, salad. It was also good but maybe be better as a shared dish as a meal of deep fried anything is a bit much. The board had listed a soba noodle meal and a Japanese set meal, both vegan. They had vegan chocolate cake but we were full. Also serves cocktails, beer, sake and other drinks. Sitting by the window is good for people watching, they have a bar/counter with a few stools too. I’d eat there again and order from the board or have the BLT again.

Enough vegan options, very tasty, but expensive - Edit
A small restaurant with a vegetarian and vegan options. The staff is friendly and the food is really delicious. The items are a bit expensive, paid around 2400 yen for Japanese platter, mango juice and large banana spring rolls. Would give 5 stars if menu was entirely vegetarian or even better vegan (although I'm already happy if a restaurant goes vega).

Interesting place - Edit
The restaurant is in a very convenient location and offers a range of vegan options. We tried the BLT sandwich and the udon noodles and bad the chocolate cake for dessert.
Read moreService was good and quick, food was alright. The sandwich didn't have any special taste even though it looked really good! The potato wedges were delicious.
The udon dish was nice but a bit oily. We shared both dishes and were still a bit hungry after. The chocolate cake was moist and yummy but not the best I've ever tried (it's worth getting it though) :)
We found the food to be rather expensive.
We went once during our three day stay and preferred to have okonomiyaki the other nights :P
Pros: nice vegan options, convenient location
Cons: quite expensive

Best in Hiroshima for vegans - Edit
Hiroshima is not the easiest city for vegetarians/vegans, but thankfully there's Art Cafe Elk. While this place also serves meat and fish, the staff is perfectly aware of veganism and the menu has plenty of veg options. We had a very delicious noodle dish and fried mock chicken with salad. Very good modern restaurant near the Dome and Peace Park.

Very Japanese Vegan - Edit
Lovely little cafe / restaurant near Hondori station. Sara had noodles which she reported as excellent and spicy. I had the vegan platter which was a fabulous composition of flavours with tofu, rice, veg and pickles. Plus the best miso I've had since arriving in Japan. Great service, decent portions and reasonably priced. A highly enjoyable and distinctly Japanese meal in easy going surroundings. Strongly recommend.

Decent Food - Edit
This cafe is nicely located on Hondori close to Peace Park and is a nice 2F space. Came here for dinner and ordered the vegan platter and vegetable tempura. While the platter was presented nicely, we found the dishes a little lacking compared to similar dishes had elsewhere in Japan. The tempura was also ordinary, being a bit oily and lacking crisp flavour. The vegan chocolate cake, however, was excellent and was a nice way to finish off a meal. Overall the food was OK, but I had hoped for more. I should also mention it would be good if they varied their music playlist, as when we were there, one (frustratingly catchy) pop song was played on repeat the whole time.

So great! - Edit

food good, service not - Edit
I live in Hiroshima and have wanted to visit this place for a while. It was disappointing that the service took a long time, it wasn't friendly and our waitress told us she was the owner. We were surprised of the bad quality of customer service.

Delicious! - Edit
I went to ELK with my Omni friends, we all ordered off the vegan menu and enjoyed every meal. The Hiroshima style udon stir fry was amazing as was the karaage "chicken" and the new BLT. The location was extremely convent for us, just a minute from the dome and the service was wonderful.

Delicious Vegan platter! - Edit
I went to this cafe for brunch and it was great! I had the Japanese vegan platter and everything on it was delicious. It was nice to have similar ingredients to other vegan Japanese restaurants e.g. tofu, but cooked beautifully and with a lovely rich taste. The cafe caters to meat-eaters, vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free and is a great option for people travelling with others with different dietary requirements. The owner/ chef was lovely and I was even able to buy some of the side dishes which she packed for me for the train.

Good food - Edit
This is a very international place, one of the more international ones we came to. We were happy to have the Udon, which was delicious, and done in what I suspect was hiroshima style. Tofu was also very good. The server was a bit curt, for a japanese, and perhaps just has a bit of a overload from tourists who come across a bit rude (they don't mean it, I don't mean it, but i know for Japense it can be hard). Prices were very reasonable and it was nice to eat something other than onigiri.

Cute cafe on the first floor that's warm and cosy with friendly staff who can speak English. Tried the vegan platter and vegan fried udon. Both were pretty good. We had to try the chocolate cake of course which was moist and not too sweet. If you come here and the place happens to be closed, don't fret. Vegan okonomiyaki is just a few shops to the right of this place (Natagaya).

Separate vegan menu - Edit
I ate here twice and had lunch and dinner. There is a vegan menu in English which has small number of choices. The restaurant is upstairs, and has a funky coffee shop vibe.
Read moreThere are two kinds of vegan Japanese platters, one with miso, pickles, rice balls, tofu 'steak', and edamame. Or you can get the Excellent Japanese Platter which has all of the above plus vegan tempura! The sauce on the tofu 'steak' was delicious - tasted like miso and peanut. The tempura was also nice.
There are also some vegan desserts, a chocolate cake and a banana spring roll.
The service is friendly. However, the food can be a bit expensive
Pros: Separate vegan menu (in English), Friendly staff, Arty atmosphere
