Great food and amazing service :) - Edit
The staff was amazing, so friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of vegan oprions and the food that we had was extremely delicious. We tried a burger and had some cake for dessert, both of which were delightful.

Great Experience! - Edit
Lovely little cafe, full of cute messages. The owner has obviously put a lot of love into it! We ordered the vegan "chicken" karaage (which was very yummy), the vegan BLT (which was good, though I would have loved a little more "bacon" in it for extra flavour), and the banana spring roll (which was amazing). If we were in Hiroshima for longer we definitely would have visited again!

Delicious food, beautiful cafe - Edit
I came for dinner one night and had the set dinner with fried tofu and it was delicious! Lots of flavour, and just enough room left for dessert! I had the banana spring rolls and there were amazing! I came back next morning for a coffee and to also try the chocolate cake and it was so good haha couldn’t recommend highly enough, staff are lovely and friendly, can speak English.

Vegan options not as vegan as they say... - Edit
Last night I arrived to Hiroshima and I decided to have dinner in one of the places I found using Happy Cow called Art Cafe ELK. Since I'm the kind of obsessive person who wants to make sure about things beforehand, I started asking questions to waitress. First one about the bread in the vegan burger set cointaining milk products or not (told her I was allergic): she didn't know for sure so she called who looked like the owner/boss. She had to check the package of the bread cause she didn't know for sure either... and BINGO! She said it contained "just a little bit" of milk products. WTF?! I told them this is not vegan... I ended up eating there the tofu set asking about milk, fish, gelatine, etc. telling them I cannot eat any of those things, so I hope it was safe, but I honestly didn't feel comfortable nor safe eating there... I just wanted to warn you, since they have other supposedly vegan options and desserts (vegan ice cream and brownie) that I'm afraid might also contain milk derivates or other animal products. They seemed nice people but, I had to inform you since it is unacceptable for vegans and seriously dangerous for intolerants or allergic people. If you go there, please, ask questions, tell them "this is not vegan" so they might fix their mistakes.

I had a spicy udon noodle bowl. It was delicious, although very spicy! I really enjoyed the vibe there. It was a few months back, but I believe vegan options were pretty clear and staff understood veganism.

really tasty meal! - Edit
I ordered the yakiudon and it was really delicious! Much more homely than other foods, it was dense and full of rich flavour, definitely not 'healthy' like other Japanese vegan meals, but this is sometimes what you need after eating so well on holiday!
Read moreThe staff were extremely nice and the restaurant was a nice space! The other vegan dish, the rice dish, looked delicious as well, and seems to be the lighter and healthier alternative to the yakiudon.
Pros: tasty meal, great service

What a surprise! - Edit
Very cool cafe! Good menu. The owner is very nice and speaks good English. She uses ingredients I never saw before. I don’t live in japan maybe that’s why hehe I had the plate set with ‘chicken’ and the chocolate cake. With a drink I was looking at 3400 yen. Ooops a bit pricey but excellent food and service!

What great customer service! We felt very welcome and comfortable in Art Elk Cafe. My father (non-veg) and I (veg) both commented positively on the taste and presentation of the meal. I only wish I could have had space for one of the delicious-looking desserts.

Nice place on 2nd floor. Clearly marked vegan options. Food was very good. Many options, we actually ordered too much food. 😬 As a bonus we sat next to the window and could watch shoppers hurrying along.

Saved my ass! - Edit
When I walked in I was a little nervous because my friend and I have a lot of allergies (gluten, dairy, egg, soy, nuts) but art ELK was SO accommodating. The owner listened to us and presented an option of stir fried veggies, fruit, and rice. The food was delicious and neither of us got sick. So thankful to have people who truly understand and care, would go here again!!

Great vegan food! - Edit
This cafe is a little hard to find - hiding in plain sight - in the main shopping centre because it is up on the second level. Food was great! Had the Japanese plate which was very substantial and tasty. Some of the vegan options looked great but weren’t cheap. The desserts looked great too and these seemed reasonably priced for vegan options but I was too full to try them!

Delicious Cozy Vegan Spot - Edit
Great little spot for vegos in Hiroshima. The platters were huge. The BLT was a bit on the average side in terms of flavour (maybe a but too much mustard & ketchup). Overall great food.
Read moreBE CAREFUL: The chicken on the vegan platters is real chicken NOT faux. This is a little misleading. Thankfully the staff made us aware & we didn't order it.
Overall, great food, good spot & nice atmosphere.
