Disappointed

We really really really wanted to like this cafe as it’s close to home (especially after our previous favourite Power Plant closed down.) But the food really let us down.

PROS
The ambience and table service are excellent and there is ample parking.
Curry was nice (although literally covered with a forest of coriander)
Coffee - really nice. The extra shot soy in particular was spot on strength, taste and temperature

CONS
Lasagna - bland and dry. The accompanying sauce also lacked flavour
Side of Chips - these were definitely not fresh. Perhaps the oil needed changing. Overcooked as well. My daughter loves chips and left them which speaks volumes
Pancakes - once you finished with the grapefruit topping and sauce on the top pancake the rest was dense and tasteless. And the massive granola pieces really needed to be crushed perhaps as a sprinkle
Tacos - very spicy. Was not noted on menu. Also the soft shells were too hard and more like pita bread (Either that or they were also not fresh?)

OTHER
the serving sizes are massive (way too big in our opinion). Some people
may like this? If you don’t like food waste ask for take-away container. This was offered to us but as per the review there was nothing worth taking back home.

(Also we booked a table via their website and it wasn’t reserved. And they could also improve by monitoring and responding to Facebook Messenger).

We really hope the owners take this feedback on board and improve the quality of their food as plant based cafes in the eastern suburbs are rare and it would be great to make a positive impression on non-vegan diners, plus I really hate negatively reviewing such businesses. We dined with 3 vegans and 2 non-vegans. $137 for 5 meals and 3 drinks. We like the Vintage Market and Wholefood Market so we may return for coffee (and maybe try some vegan dessert, biscuit or cake from their cabinet.)

Pros: Ambience and service, Coffee, Curry

Cons: Bland taste, Food didn’t seem fresh, Website Booking didn’t reserve us a table

Nice

Lovely food with a great lady doing table service.
Enjoyed both meals had there.
Had a poor experience everytime I have gone to Wholefood Merchants though which is not a reflection of the cafe.
Cafe has a great vibe, Wholefoods not so much.

Pros: Food variety, Taste, Service

Cons: Wholefood Merchants offers poor service
