authentic fast food

This place is often packed… it’s a kiosk. You order, pay and get a number. There are bar tables in front which. But often people even sit on the side walk. It has a good reputation and since there are no real alternatives in Frankfurt, this is the place to go to if you into falafels.

Unfortunately I am not convinced of its quality. You always get big big portions, which a lot of sauce on everything in order to have this one special taste…but to me this is too much. If foods really tastes good you do not need all the convenient sauces to make up for the rest and I doubt they are vegan.

Everything tastes somehow similar, mainly because of the sauces . If you like that fast food falafel taste, you will love it, but again, if you have ever been to the Emirates or countries where you can eat homemade falafels which fresh sauce and salads you can only be disappointed.

Whenever I came here my stomach was busy for hours… this food makes me tired. No idea what oil they use, do not want to know what kind of sauces…

Something I really do not like is the lack of hygiene. Everything looks greasy. Even if you work in the kitchen all day long, you not have to have this raggle-taggle look.

Still I would recommend this place if you are into that street food falafel taste as there are not many alternatives in Frankfurt. But do not expect any clean, healthy food here.

Pros: cheap, big portions

Cons: greasy place, low quality food, not guaranteed vegan

Chickpeas in heaven

Imagine you are a chickpea, living in Europe and your karma is very, very good, you may expect to end up at Aroma in Frankfurt and be transformed to a falafel or hummus.

The most and first noticed striking thing at Aroma are the huge portions. A Falafafel Hummus plate with 6 large Falafels, a large portion of hummus, eggplant mash (baba ganoush) comes for 8,50 Euros and easily serves two people.

As Tofuschnecke pointed out: The falafel is outstanding. Hummus is good, but mine is better ;-)
The dishes with eggplant are a matter of taste - the mash tastes quite smokey which does not suit everybody.

Pros: Best falafel in town, Vegan options, low price

Cons: not organic, portions too big, meat&cheese place

Best Falafel in Frankfurt - or even Europe

I never had a better Falafel. That's it, basically. Oh and have the Falafel with Eggplant, they also have the best baba ghanoush I ever had! Even though the hummus is very good, too.

In a few months I'll try the L’As du Fallafel in Paris which is said to be the best Falafel in Europe. So perhaps I'll change the review to "Best Falafel in Europe" afterwards ;) Or I'll have a REALLY incredible Falafel in Paris!

Update: The Falafel in Paris was very good, but the main part (the Falafel balls) couldn't beat the one from Aroma. So it's officially the best Falafel I ever had in Europe!

Pros: Excellent food, Best Falafel, Good Value

Cons: Very popular means long waiting time, No real seating, Also offer meat and cheese
