My second home - Edit
I am at Aroha 2-3 times a week on my lunchbreak and honestly I still can't get enough. After trying all the salad offerings, I have perfected my small power bowl with jasmine rice, be*f chunks (made from mushroom), broccoli and ch*cken, noodles, Asian slaw, edamame, beetroot hummus and chilli sauce. I am a big eater and the small is more than enough for me, and just feels so good to eat. I'd estimate 15 different vegetables, proteins, seeds and herbs in the one bowl. The servers are always lovely and helpful, and the price is right for all you get. Always seats available but it doesn't feel like a food court. They also have a loyalty card so make sure you get on that! I more than recommend Aroha - the lunch place I'll miss the most when I leave Wellington.

Lots of vegan options - Edit
I ordered a power bowl and they had so much stuff to choose from 🙌🏻
Read moreThe only thing is that it tasted a little bit plain because the sauce wasn’t enough and only on top of the bowl.

Decent vegan food court fare - Edit
I was pretty happy with this place and my expectations had been set at the right level, because it is largely prepared dishes in bains-marie in a food court. It’s a bit nicer though because there is a designated seating area for it, and despite my fears everything would come in disposable packaging takeaway or no, this was absolutely not the case. The selection of hot dishes and salads we had with jasmine rice ranged from satisfactory to very good, with the noodle salad, tofu and black bean and chicken being standouts. The seitan burger was not mind-blowing but for what it was it was not bad at all, and the seitan was not unappetising as that food sometimes can be. Prices were low, so I reckon I’ll be back for another cheap and convenient lunch here.

Move over Skittles there is a new king in town! Aroha really is special with the ability to make up a custom power bowl. Absolutely brilliant. My girlfriend just can't help herself but appear when I say I am going here 😂

Good food, central location - Edit
good central location optimal for city workers, good variety of food. I found there are many foods which seem good but have strange tastes, like the roasted veges?? not sure why, that could just be me. Good smoothies

Delicious whole food options - Edit
I aim for whole food plant based eating. I was able to get a delicious bowl of food here and next time I visit Wellington I will definitely come here again. I can't eat nuts and the staff were really helpful with letting me know which dishes I could eat.

Poor burgers - Edit
Eat burgers only, very poor taste. Small portion, no fries, no salad, no presentation, burger on plate, that’s it. Taste is the same as the look. They have more menu options, but 2:30pm everything was empty, so we go for “smoky seitan” and “spicy pulled jackfruit”, I was dissapointed. First impression is bad, not planning to come back.

Nothing special - Edit
I had the power bowl - lots of choice (as you would expect from a wholly vegan cafe!) which is always nice, but I didn’t think it was anything special.

My favorite weekend lunch spot - Edit
This was hands down the best vegan weekend lunch spot in Welly area. I liked bowls the most. You basically get rice, 3 options (usually bean stew, mock meats, jackfruit(divine) stir fries, some salads and sauce. Delicious! I’ve also tasted some bao buns but they were a bit too sweet for my taste.

Good food but a bit pricey - Edit
Fresh and healthy and with lots of vegan options. It can be a bit pricey for the food quantity but the quality is great. Staff understand veganism. It’s in a food court but it’s a nice space. They had nice kombucha too

A decent feed in Wellington - Edit
Had a big bowl with various toppings: sweet and sour tvp, green beans in black bean sauce, jackfruit stir-fry, salads and toppings for just under $15. All served on brown and red rice. Nothing amazing with flavors, but the ingredients tasted fresh and it was filling.

Good lunch power bowls!.... - Edit
After reading the previous reviews we decided to try the power bowls here. We got a large ($13.80) & small ($10.80) size.
Read moreMy large bowl had 2 x rice options as the base, 3 x hot protein options which consisted of tvp / tofu varieties & 4 small selections of the salads. I had a nice tahini dressing on top. Everything was fresh and really tasty. Good flavours throughout and a really enjoyable meal. The portion sizes were just right for a lunch bowl.
I also tried a Peanut butter & chocolate shake for dessert but for almost $8, I thought it was a little light on flavour & also a little too thin. It needed more substance.
Aroha is part of a trendy food court half way along Willis St in the CBD and has nice surroundings. Their servery & dining area were very clean & tidy and the service was good. Reasonable prices. We'd eat at Aroha again for sure.

Pros: Fresh food with good flavours ~ All vegan., Reasonable prices., Friendly and efficient service.
