best vegan food in rural Arkansas

WARNING for the sensitive: this place specializes in hunted local meats.

That said, it's the best vegan food in the area. We've been to Jasper a few times for climbing at HCR, and this is my absolute favorite place to eat. We ate there every day during a recent long weekend.

The food is absolutely fresh, some was even plucked from the owners' garden that very day. The staff is great and was happy to attend to our vegan peculiarities and health-concious modifications.

There is a small organic grocery in the back, which includes items like coconut milk ice cream. After a hot day of climbing, what vegan doesn't want coconut milk ice cream for dinner? They will even make you a milk shake out of it if you ask nicely.

It would be great if there were a few more vegan options on the menu, but hey it's rural Arkansas.

Pros: fresh food, friendly atmosphere, organic options

Cons: lots of meat--at least it's free range
