Fair prices, honest service, - Edit
I’ve been meaning to come to Argi for some time now but have never really had an excuse to swing by Kensington, even though it’s so close to where we live. With pickles milk bar just up the road, why would I need another vegan breakfast hub?
Read moreI’ll tell ya why. Because it’s frikken good! Argi is a full cafe that was able to seat myself, my two friends and their two kids with no prior booking on a Wednesday morning for Brekky. Service was lovely and the woman behind the counter communicated with us honestly, that it was just her on that day and everything might be a little wait (it really wasn’t, but we appreciated the heads up)
Portion sizes were very fair for the price. I got probably the cheapest thing on the menu which was the chicken pesto sandwich and it slapped! The schnitzel patty they used tasted pretty similar, I’m almost positive it’s a Vincent vegetarian patty which is a recipe for success in my book 👏 👏
I didn’t get a photo but my mate got the “big breakfast burrito” and true to its name, it was probably the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen. Food was filling and prices are fair for the product I received. The cafe was also just a really nice vibe to be inside on a sunny Melbourne day. Will absolutely come here again.
Pros: Chicken pesto sammy , Fair price, Good portions

Affordable, large menu and great atmosphere - Edit
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Read moreMy family and I recently visited ARGI Café in Kensington, and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and value on offer. There's something for every budget, with items like the ham + cheese toastie priced at just $9, nuggets + chips at $15, and more substantial meals like the Breakfast Burrito and Philly Cheesesteak Bagel at $25. Plenty of options to choose from, whether you're after a quick bite or a hearty meal!
The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and the café had a lovely family-friendly vibe. They even had a handful of kids' books, which was a great touch to keep the little ones entertained while we enjoyed our meals. The flavours were excellent overall, but I did find the Breakfast Burrito a little on the dry side – a sauce inside would have made it perfect.
Other than that, we had a great experience and will definitely be back for more!
Pros: Affordable, Large variety, Family friendly
Cons: Breakfast burrito a little dry - needs a sauce!

Pretty and pretty disappointed - Edit
Came here with a friend after seeing it on a Facebook group with patrons advising this cafe was not getting customers.
Read moreI can tell you why.
It’s very visually appealing, but the food came out cold, hard and you could tell it was sitting on the counter for ages. The croissant tastes like bread? Been to places that have vegan croissants and they taste way better!! I got the ARGI special which was tofu scramble in a croissant. My friend got the classic avocado on toast.
My friend couldn’t even eat the sourdough underneath the avocado.
Our drinks took 25 minutes to come when there was literally only one other person in the cafe. Such a shame, I don’t want to go back as there’s nothing worse than paying for disappointing food.
Pros: Visually pretty for instagram , Nice location
Cons: Bland food, Cold food, Pastries don’t taste like they should
Aloo
It's very variable I've found. Although I would still like to support them when i can, my partner refuses to go back as he sees the risk of being disappointed is too high.

Really nice cafe - Edit
Took us 45 minutes to drive to Kensington to meet some friends at this cafe. Really pleased with such a full menu and friendly service. Food & drinks were reasonably quick to arrive. Thank you for a nice hot chocolate and the ARGI Signature which was beans with scrambled tofu, cheese, hash brown, bacon, and tomato on croissant. Hope to visit again.

Great brunch spot - Edit
This cute cafe has a good range of dishes, as well as a cabinet full of various treats and snacks including croissants. I haven't had smashed avo in ages, despite being an irresponsible millennial, but now that we've bought an apartment I guess I'm allowed? It was attractively presented with two slices of toast stacked on top of each other with the avo etc piled up on the top slice and beetroot hummus around the edge of the plate. The menu said it came with baked almond feta, but I'm pretty sure it was the standard Bio Cheese one. There was one halved cherry tomato on top. I'd have liked a couple more cherry toms and maybe Yay! feta or similar, but despite that it was delicious and a very generous sized serve. My latte was excellent, a good strength and well made. My partner's Famous Chickun Wrap was enormous and they said it was awesome, and that their chai was also great.
Read moreThere were only a small number of people here when we visited at around 1.45, so hopefully they are doing good business earlier on with the "actually having brunch in the morning instead of sleeping in til midday" crowd. I want to come back and try their ARGI Signature big breakfast situation soon when I'm feeling particularly hungry, I saw it being brought out to someone else and it looked epic. Really happy that this place exists not too far from me!

Good! - Edit
Had the vegan cheesesteak sub, which was good. Not sure what sort of the seitan they used, but think it might be a commercial one. Had good taste and texture.

Delicious croissants - Edit
The bacon and egg muffin is delicious even if a little pricey. We also got all 3 croissants heated up (pain au chocolate, almond, and plain) and the Taiwanese cream cheese which was INCREDIBLE, so garlicky. The croissants were flaky, airy, just perfect.
Read moreI hope they include more meals and flavours inspired from their background.
------
Beautiful space with chandelier and gold mirrors.
Since it's changed hands, I don't come here anywhere as often. My favourite items were taken off the menu (I really miss the toasties and empanadas!!), but they still have the delicious croissants (plain and almond, haven't tried the pain au chocolate yet).
I do really like the lasagne, but the Argi signature is bland, and the philly cheesesteak bagel was just ok.
I would like to try some of their specials, for eg. the Jajangmyeon noodles.

Extensive menu and all vegan - Edit
Such a cute cafe and huge variety on the menu and cabinet. We had the breakfast burrito and Philly bagel, the portions were huge but I do think they lacked a bit of flavour. That being said I would still come back for the vibe, try something else on the menu and maybe get a cake.

Generous servings and tasty - Edit
5/11/2023 Of course they have been fully vegan for a long time. I had the argi signature today and it was amazing. I am unable to get there during my lunch hour now but I used to go twice a week. I had a soy cappuccino and we shared a berry smoothie today.
Read moreReally old review! Before it was fully vegan
This cafe has only recently opened. We asked about the menu and everything is vegan unless it says VO where you need to specify that you want the vegan version.
I ordered a soy cappuccino. One of the best coffees I’ve had. I ordered the avocado smash with vegan feta. It was a very generous serving and the toast was actually toasted! I liked the flavour of the feta and the avocado with peasant sun dried tomatoes. There was also chilli.
My partner ordered the smoothie which was really thick and tasty and the big brekkie (vegan option). I tried the rice paper bacon and the sweet potato pattie. Again a very generous serving. I liked the things I tried and he really enjoyed it.
I can’t wait to try the pancakes!
The space is nice and bright and I liked the wooden tables. I’ll definitely be going back. Service was friendly. They were busy but we didn’t have to wait long.

Sandwiches were ok - Edit
Had to walk quite a way out from the city to try here, and arrived 10 minutes before they were closing at 2pm so kitchen was closed. Had the choice of a couple of sandwiches already made on the counter which were OK, nothing special, so didn't really get a chance to try any other meals.

Good food but disappointing service - Edit
Updated review from lunch on 19 June 2022
Read moreUnfortunately, although we enjoyed our food, the service was really disappointing. My friend waited about an hour for her meal (when others who ordered the same food got it before her) and instead of being apologetic the staff just made excuses.
We did enjoy our food and coffee (including lasagna, sweet potato rolls, burrito) but the poor service soured the experience. Hopefully they were just having a bad day and it isn’t normally such poor service.

review from 1 July 2019
I went back for lunch today and had the Southern Sweet Potato Bowl ($20) which was delicious! It was a delightful combination of flavours and textures. My friend asked about getting a vegan version of the Big Brekkie Board ($23) and was advised that the eggs would be replaced with smashed pumpkin. She had this with vegan feta as an extra and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My other friend had the Chia Brekkie Jar ($15) and really enjoyed the top layers (particularly the coconut yoghurt) but found the bottom layer less tasty.
Staff were delightful and very helpful with very prompt service.
It’s not super cheap, but it was worth it for the delicious food and enjoyable experience, with most of the menu being vegan.

Old review from 29 June 2019:
We enjoyed our coffee and food, but felt the food was overpriced. We had the burrito ($22) and smashed pumpkin on sourdough ($17). I was going to get the big brekkie board, but couldn’t justify it for $23 since there is no replacement for two poached eggs.
The venue is pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

They might have changed it but my partner had the vegan option of the big breakfast and they served it with beetroot relish and another hash brown type thing. It was huge too! Btw I have no affiliation with this place
