Felt bullied by staff/ terrible tasteless overpriced vegan food/ Not Recommended buy a long shot - Edit
One of the worst experiences ever in a restaurant. My husband and I have traveled the very far way from Western North Carolina to get to Duck and had planned part of our day around going to this restaurant.
Read moreWe are health conscious and vegan and ordered the only two vegan options on the menu. The first one was the Baba Ganush as an appetizer which was just okay nothing great. Fancy presentation on a plastic plate. Hardly tasted like eggplant.
We were hungry so we ate it.
Then came with a call a stuffed tomato. Tomato nut ripe at all. Tasted like some canned tomato sauce was added on the side. Some other elements all tasteless. We should have just sent it back but they had no other options on their menu and we were hungry and just managed to get our way through the meal but were extremely disappointed.
Expected much better from this place.
I can't remember exactly the price on the bill but it was a shock to see that two non-alcoholic drinks, one appetizer and two really bad entrees later rendered us a bill close to $70.
I spoke to the waiter and explained how disappointed we were with the quality. I just said it wasn't very good and is there something they can do. That's all I said. And that's all I needed to say for him to completely jump down my throat scolding me loudly telling me that we should have just sent it back sooner. He says he'll talk to the manager. He comes back and tells me they are taking 10% off. But then the manager comes over and now she was almost as bad as he in her manner towards us.
There was no need for either one of them to act like this. All they had to do was be professional. If the answer was that they couldn't do anything for us they could have just told that to us politely and cooly without flying off the handle at us, which frankly was quite hurtful and took a number of hours to recover from. It was like we were brutalized by them simply because their food was no good! And clearly, they don't care at all about bad reviews online. Not too smart. They also don't care about whether or not we would ever come back or recommend them to anyone.
When my husband pointed out to this supposed manager that they should get ripe tomatoes, the manager's answer was ridiculous. It sounded something like this " we can't control what we get"
What we should have heard was "we're very sorry about the food not being up to the best quality"
As an aside since we were sitting in view of the hostess area, I noticed this woman who works there

This place is a good option if you are the only vegan in the family and you want a nice place with a vegan options! I wish they had more and the main entree could have had more flavor

The only vegan main option was a modified vegetarian stuffed tomato (sans cheese) that was soggy and bland.
