I went there for breakfast because I didn't know where else to go. The waiter was very attentive and kind, service was super quick as I was the first customer. The interior is super cozy.

Wow! Yummy croissant. Refreshing little cup of juice. Great granola with coconut or soy? yoghurt and a balancing fruit compote on the bottom. But now let me tell you about the vegan tofu egg salad - amazing. I think this was marinated, overnight or something? It's served cold which didn't bother me. The saltiness is perfect, maybe it comes from kala namak. It tastes very authentic. On top is some coconut bacon, sadly it disappears quickly in your mouth because its so small and theres not a lot on the dish itself. I could use more of it!
The tea was good, I also love the complementary vegan choco cookie.
For a chain serving meat - this was an outstanding vegan breakfast! And affordable!

I don’t visit chains often, especially if they serve a bunch of animal products. This was my second time at Anne&Max and the first time had been disappointing (to say the least), so I didn’t have high hopes. However, they positively surprised me. The double chocolate cookies they serve with warm drinks are vegan, you get a small discount for oat milk and there are both sweet and savoury menu options to choose from. I think the majority of their cakes are from Willempie Bakery as well, so you don’t have to miss out on dessert. I went for the Club Botanica sandwich. The celeriac “egg”salad was very tasty and didn’t leave me feeling sluggish, but the best part of this dish was the coconut bacon. I’ve had this alternative before but the one they served up here was by far the tastiest and smokiest I’ve tried. The only thing I didn’t like were the crisps; they didn’t really go with the sandwich and were very very thin.

Normaal komen wij graag bij Anne en Max, en we keken er ook naar uit deze voor ons nieuwe locatie uit te proberen. Wij klagen niet snel, maar dit kon echt niet eigenlijk...
Read moreHet was druk, wat waarschijnlijk veel dingen verklaart maar dat is nog geen excuus.
De enige vrije tafel die er nog was, was compleet onder gespetterd met water(?) en op de grond lagen overal kruimels. De natte stoel en tafel zijn wel netjes voor ons schoongemaakt, maar we vroegen ons wel af wat daar in hemelsnaam gebeurt was.
Dit alleen was nog acceptabel geweest. Het opnemen van de bestelling verliep rommelig, ze kwam wel 3 keer terug om dingen te vragen als 'willen jullie zalm of bacon' terwijl we meerdere keren duidelijk hadden aangegeven een vegan lunch te willen. Ik moest ook nog een keer extra herhalen dat ik havermelk wilde in mijn koffie.
Het sapje wat ik had besteld smaakte zurig/gegist en was duidelijk niet goed meer, en werd afgaande op temperatuur ervan niet koel bewaard. Ik kreeg gelukkig wel een nieuwe.
Toen kwam (na redelijk lang wachten) de lunch, compleet met kip, kaas, kaasstengels en allerlei dingen die we normaal niet krijgen als we bij Anne en Max vegan bestellen. De jongen die de plaat bracht bood zijn excuses aan en nam de kip en kaas mee, maar wist ook niet zeker wat er nu wel niet vegan was op de plaat. We hadden eigenlijk de hele plaat terug moeten sturen, maar we waren ook een beetje verbouwereerd en houden ook niet van weggooien. Hij heeft uiteindelijk alle kaas en vlees vervangen voor vegan varianten, maar mogelijk zat er nog honing mosterd dressing op de salade die ik maar heb opgegeten omdat we er nu ook zo snel mogelijk weg wilden. (We waren inmiddels ook redelijk overprikkeld door een luid gezelschap naast ons, maar daar kan de bediening natuurlijk niet heel veel aan doen.)
Er zijn excuses aangeboden, maar daar bleef het bij. Al met al niet voor herhaling vatbaar voor ons.

Cons: bediening vriendelijk, maar niet capabel, slechte voedsel hygiëne

Heerlijke vegan high tea - Edit
Vanmiddag vam 15.00 tot 17.00 uur de vegan high tea gedaan. Klein foutje bij het uitserveren, want er zat een schaaltje zalm bij. Toen ik dat aangaf, werd het meteen weggehaald en vervangen door het juiste schaaltje. Alles smaakte uitstekend (linzensoep, brood met smeersels en beleg, bananenbrood, brownie, appeltaart, koekjes, scones, snickerdadels) en was ruim voldoende. Ook theepotje werd regelmatig aangevuld op verzoek en de thee was lekker. Heerlijk!

Amazing breakfast! - Edit
We stayed in the B&B which came with a breakfast platter at Anne&Max every morning. They made some of the items vegan for me each morning such as the vegan egg salad, vegan croissant, pea spread, banana bread and on the last day I even got some smoked tofu. They also provided a hot drink and orange juice on the side.

The “A Planet-friendly Start” dish was great, the vegan “egg” salad was nice and savory and the coconut “bacon” added some nice smokiness. The sandwich spreads, one from split peas and one tomato-based, were great as well. And really nice staff.

Read moreI liked ‘Dit is je dag’ shake, because it’s sweet and fresh, the Kumasi Gassi (tastes like lychee), the tasty Veggiestoof and Klutsvrij (vegan scrambled egg with bread and spreads). The Veganoot salad, pink cake, blueberry pie amd Summer bubble (lemonade) were only allright.

Nice food but really crowded place - Edit
They have two locations in Utrecht. I visited the place at Domkwartier a few weeks ago. They have enough choices for vegan people but also for omnivores. I had the very vegan club and chocolate cake, both tasted really good! The restrooms are downstairs and the stairs are straight. So it's unsuitable for people with a wheelchair or visually impaired people. You sit also very close next to everyone else, which I don't like. Staff was friendly.
