Traditional pleasure

Anjo Verde is a special place in the city center which serves vegetarian dishes. Vegan meals are not specifically indicated on the menu, but the staff is kind to tell you which meals are ok. Traditional Portuguese cuisine is served and I had a Tofu Stroganoff and veg skewers, all tasty, fresh and good in size. All min courses are served with fresh vegetables and basmati or red rice. Even desserts are great. Recommended.

Comida ruim

Comida muito ruim. Restaurante vegetariano com pouquíssimas opções veganas. Infelizmente prezam mais por derivados animais do que ingredientes vegetais.

Ambiente bonito, restaurante elegante.

A berinjela parmegiana estava crua no centro.

Nice dinner

Big plates and tasty food. I had the stroganoff. I did not order dessert because of the language barrier. Not sure whether they had any vegan desserts.

4* ótimo

Excelente qualidade de confecção, local elegante e convidativo.
Recomendação: sobremesas
Ponto a melhorar: melhor formação no atendimento, confirmações e notas trocadas atrasaram o atendimento em geral.

Pros: Várias opções veganas, Preço acessível , Qualidade excelente

Cons: Atendimento 2*

Pretty good!

Rating: 7.5/10

This is a very spacious restaurant in a very privileged location of Braga. Although decoration is quite simple, it has a calm and peaceful enviornment to it.
The vegan options on their menu are well-identified and prices are fair. The staff is friendly but service may be a little slow.
The food was quite good, and the vegan dessert I tried (passionfruit pie) was delicious too.

Note: I've only had the chance to come here once (2022), but I'd like to come back

Pros: Location, well-identified vegan options, very good food

Cons: Service may be slow

Good vegan options, but they could be expanded

The restaurant is vegetarian (eggs and dairy allowed) but there were a few vegan options. I ate the 'strogonoff de tofu' which was great with very good sides.

Dessert-wise, there was only one option and they had run-out when I tried ordering.

Pros: The vegan options that exist are quite tasty

Cons: Few vegan desserts

Desiludida

Very Good Vegan Food

We stopped in during Holy Week/Easter Week and we’re seated right away, even though it was a busy night (right before a procession). The restaurant was clean and minimally, tastefully decorated—comfortable, casual, and welcoming.

The waitress knew limited English, but was friendly and helpful and brought over an English speaking man (perhaps the manager or owner). He was adorable, funny, and kind...and was quick to point out the vegan-only options that we inquired about. While most foods were clearly marked as such, it never hurts to ask, which lead us to the soup, which wasn’t marked vegan.

The soup was very, very good—a creamy squash, I presume—which is not something I often praise because it’s typically pretty basic, but this was tasty. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. If only every creamy soup was like this one!

For our mains, my man had a stroganoff (seitan) dish and I had a tofu dish, both over a rice of our choosing and, while they were similarly flavored, his was creamier (and topped with tiny, fried potato slivers) and mine had maybe a bit more complexity (and mushroom caps and tomato cubes). It’s hard to say which was better—both were excellent—and we traded often. The sides varied between the two plates and all of them were good.

A vegan/vegetarian/meat eater would enjoy either of the dishes we had, without question, and we’d go again if we had another night in town. Lovely place, good service, and excellent food!

Pros: Tasty Vegan Options, Lovely Interior, Nice Staff

Not very vegan friendly

Came here near the end of the lunch hour. The vegan options were not marked and the waiter and kitchen took quite a bit of convincing before they agreed to prepare a vegan dish. Would not recommend.

Cons: Not vegan friendly

few nice vegan options

At diner they had 3 mains: vegetable tart, tofu with mushrooms and eggplant (the last we didn't have). all come with rice, cuscus, cooked vegetables , salad [all in one big plate] plus herbs tea, for euro8.5.
It was good but not exciting, reasonable option for vegans, filing inexpensive and healthy.
Nice decor. vegan options not marked, but the waiter can explain in reasonable English.

Pros: healthy and filling, inexpensive, nice decor

Cons: no desserts, not many options

Seitan with basmati rice and cuscus

Delicious dish, with the right proportion of food, with the possibility to change some items to make it vegan. Around 15 euros per person, with the main dish and wine. Good environment!

Pros: Good vegan alternatives.

Cons: Not too expensive.

Anjo Verde at Braga

Went alone at a Wednesday night and I was the only client. The only vegetarian restaurant open in the zone so it was a easy choice.

Liked the food, the music and the space. Service was ok.

Pros: Nice food, Full plate, Nice music

Cons: Just ok service , Too quiet (I was the only one there)

Just another lazy vegetarian

Having visited this restaurant over the years I decided to review it know due to its poor vegan options and for me what is a lazy vegetarian place.

On my last visit for dinner I only found one vegan option and the other four or so options were simply bad versions of Portuguese dishes with no meat, but with cheese, eggs and cream... Oh well... Not a vegan heaven indeed and I think not a good option for vegetarians for their lack of inspiration.

The staff wasn't friendly and the room isn't cosy, specially on a rainy night.

Good if you're an ovo-lacto vegetarian

Me and my wife had dinner at Anjo Verde on a rainy weekday night and the restaurant was really quiet because we were one of the first ones to arrive.

I had already known Anjo Verde before I was a vegetarian and had really liked this place, but this time it was a bit of a disappointment for me. Mainly because there were very few vegan options available and the staff didn't seem too empathetic about our concerns and questions regarding the food...

We both ended up ordering the only vegan dish available, a vegetable tart, and although it wasn't bad at all, it wasn't anything too amazing either. I ended up enjoying much more the little bit of well seasoned couscous and chutney that accompanied the tart.

Although I still think that Anjo Verde is a nice option for a vegetarian meal at Braga, during our stay me and my wife ended up discovering much more exciting places to eat a satisfying vegan meal in the city!

Pros: Location, Big and stylish room

Cons: Almost no vegan options, Staff not too empathetic

Needs more vegan options

The portions are huge and the food is really nice so I don't think it's overpriced. Needs more vegan options!

I'm constantly wondering how do they do the pineapple with spices that comes in all plates! It's incredible!!

Pros: Location

Cons: Needs more vegan options

Good!

I came to this little vegetarian place searching for some vegan food in Braga. The menu is quite small but they even had two vegan choices: a legume tarte and a seitan sort-of-goulash. I had the seitan and was not disappointed. The portion was huge and consisted of the seitan stew, brown rice, steamed vegetables and several different sorts of side salad. It was so good I had to finish it all even if it was too much. The tea that came with the meal was on the house.
The place itself is quite modern and stylish (use the bathroom, seriously, it is awesome). The Waitress was very helpful and even some English. The only negative point was that the food came too quickly, so it was clearly not cooked from scratch on the spot.

Good food but not good for vegans

I went there with a couple of (non-vegetarian) friends and all of us liked the food a lot. The tarte de legumes was delicious!!
However, there was only one vegan dish and not one single vegan dessert, so I was quite disappointed. Also, the atmosphere was a bit "cool" and not very cozy.

Pros: good food, big portions

Cons: almost no vegan options, cool atmosphere
