A good choice in Grand Marais - Edit
I'd be angry if I were a trout at this restaurant too, although thankfully their menu is much broader than only fish. There aren't a ton of good restaurants in Grand Marais, but Angry Trout is probably the nicest for vegans. There are several vegan options on the menu, and the investment the restaurant has made in the city is clear from the craftspeople it supports. I've had a number of their dishes, although my favorite is the Gochujang BBQ Sandwich, which is soy curls, rice vinegar slaw, and vegan mayo.

Vegan option - Edit
I had the vegetable skewers, which the chef confirmed was vegan. I chose wild rice, it is local to MN. The dish overall was very good and exactly what I wanted to eat during my trip to the North Shore, fresh and simple whole foods. The restaurant was cute, especially around sunset/golden hour.

Amazing vegetable skewers! - Edit
We ordered one of the vegetable skewers and both ordered the wild rice salad then split the skewers. Everything was amazing! Please note that the tacos cannot be ordered vegan since the fried shiitake mushrooms are in a buttermilk batter and they refuse to substitute the grilled mushrooms. It has a beautiful view on Lake Superior! It’s a little expensive at $19 for the wild rice salad and $28 for the skewers with wild rice salad but it’s worth it as long as they cook the skewers well! The staff were very kind and helpful to ordering vegan! They also make their own in-house soda!

Delicious, beautiful views! - Edit
This is one of the most delicious restaurants in the Grand Marais area. I had a a salad with wild rice, cranberries, and shiitake mushrooms and it was fantastic. Everything was very flavorful. In addition, this restaurant has a magnificent view of Lake Superior from the deck, and the wait staff are super kind and friendly. Definitely worth a stop.
