Comfort food and donuts! - Edit
Don't pass up a chance to eat and treat yourself here while you're in Ithaca (or make a trip to visit, even!). Great food, fantastic donuts and desserts and a super cute new location right near (but not in) the Commons. You can't find better people, either.

The best!! - Edit
The best spot in Ithaca. Everything I’ve had has been incredibly delicious, with the mozzarella sticks being the stand out. Other great options I’ve tried are the cheesesteak, breakfast sandwhich, cheese fries, desserts, matcha, and more. Awesome customer service too and just an overall must visit spot!

Best Vegan Option in Ithaca - Edit
Angelhearts has a fun interior design with interesting artwork for sale. I visited multiple times and the staff were friendly. The breakfast fries, Philly cheesesteak, donut, chocolate croissant, breakfast crunch wrap, and cinnamon bun were all fantastic. The biscuits and gravy were a bit too spicy and could be creamier. I didn’t love the vegan chicken either—the breading could be improved.
Read moreThe icecream cake was a real standout which I would recommend trying. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Ithaca.

Great food! - Edit
The diner food was great. Restaurant is counter service with disposable utensils. Internet went down and we couldn’t order or pay in cash. Great experience, kids loved the 1950s seating.

Wowza!!!!!! - Edit
This place is absolutely amazing. Extensive menu with lots of choices and it was very hard to decide. We got the Philly cheese steak fries, the chicken and waffles the biscuits and gravy a side of tofu scramble. Could not eat all of it and the bill was only $50. We’ll have a whole second meal going home with us. Food was fresh lots and lots of seasoning. service was outstanding and the whole vibe was terrific. I’m sorry I didn’t find this place sooner. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic vegan comfort food, fun setting, social justice advocacy - Edit
Absolutely delicious! I had the breakfast skillet with a biscuit, gravy, tofu scramble, bell peppers, and house made cheese sauce, and a chocolate glazed donut. My skillet was big and hearty, and served in a paper boat. The donut (also served in a paper boat) was incredible - soft and sweet and fluffy - I can see why the donuts sometimes sell out! My friend had the chick’n & waffles with a side of home fries and he loved his food too!
Read moreMy only criticism is that I wish they had reusable tableware. Their paper boats and disposable forks (I think they are compostable?) are probably the lowest impact choice besides reusables, but I do get that reusables would probably mean an additional employee just to handle the dishes.
The decor is totally retro diner adorable.
Gay pride flags and a “ceasefire” sign show their commitment to social justice. Thank you!!!
Pros: Completely vegan, Great food, Social justice advocacy
Cons: Disposable tableware

PLEASE REOPEN - Edit
I love pretty much everything about Angel hearts to the point I want to work there very much. My only qualm is that they have been temporarily closed for months now and Ithaca needs them back! We miss you! Also please consider selling your mozzarella sticks to green star or Wegmans!!!

Delicious donuts & cinnamon buns! - Edit
I love a good cinnamon bun and can’t get them by home, so I was sold as soon as I saw them in the case 🤣 the cinnamon sugar donuts are also great! They have a nice selection of breakfast options. The staff were super nice even though it was chaotically busy when we were there- they still took the time to patiently and politely take our order

Fantastic homemade vegan comfort food - Edit
We’ve been going there since they opened; the food is amazing. Highlights for me: Beets Me Burger, Western Breakfast Sandwich, Tofu Benedict, Philly Cheesesteak, cashew cheese sauce, mozzarella sticks, home fries, chocolate chip brownies, mocha coffee. I don’t know how she does it; she makes the cashew cheese sauce, mozzarella sticks and sausage as well as the Beets Me Burger patties PLUS donuts, cookies and more. You can order online and pick up or go eat in the beautiful retro dining room. A true Ithaca treasure.

The diner was adorable and crowded. Nice selection of meals. Loved that breakfast is available all day. Good service, and there were no seats available. Pour your own water and find a seat. Everyone looked happy and the crew of about 5 was so busy.

Ordered from here a fair amount. The mozzarella sticks are probably better than the chicken and waffle but the donut was good.

My first-ever vegan mozzarella sticks! - Edit
My sister who works at Farm Sanctuary recommend this spot. Awesome food--get something that comes with/is served on a biscuit. The iced mocha was just alright. I'd recommend the food and soft serve over the coffee drinks. Plus there's a perfect water fountain in the hallway outside (chilled water for your cup or bottle)! Gets busy on weekend afternoons. Would love to come again. 👍

Not Bad Food, Unfriendly Staff - Edit
I'm pretty surprised to see the staff here praised for the friendliness in other reviews. We found the service to be sullen and pretty unwelcoming — to the point we felt quite uncomfortable being the only diners there.
Read moreFood wise, the all-day breakfast offerings were a nice change from the usual. We shared the biscuits and gravy, and the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too coconut-y for my liking and there was a tad too much fennel, but overall both dishes were tasty and the portion sizes were on point.
It's certainly worth stopping by if you're in the area, I just hope you get a better welcome than we did.
Pros: Good portion size, Great location
Cons: Unfriendly staff

I have to agree with this. The food was good, but the staff acted like we were inconveniencing them by being there. Especially when we ordered donuts. Also visited in August 2023.

A must visit. - Edit
5/5 easily. We've been here so many times, their breakfast menu is amazing. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu that has their homemade biscuits or homemade gravy (or both!) But honestly you can hardly go wrong with anything on this whole menu. Our top favorites are the breakfast skillet, tofu benedict, and good morning Ithaca burrito. They use local coffee and amazing bacon both that you can buy. We always leave here stuffed and satisfied.
