Happy, fun place

The Andaz Beach House is affiliated with the Andaz Hyatt Papagayo. It’s an open-air restaurant and beach with a fun, relaxed vibe. Service is slow but not frustratingly so.

There is a vegan menu, with a pita sandwich, taki taki, a vegan burger, and others.

All four of us ordered the vegan burger despite the price ($25). We were told that they only had two of the burgers, so the adults got the BBQ tofu.

Kids inhaled the burger and said it was good. The tofu had good taste but it was a tiny portion, maybe a quarter block of tofu, with rice and a salad (and one of my kids was still hungry after his burger and chips, so he ate my rice and salad). Presentation was wonderful. Loved the atmosphere. We were treated to howler monkeys playing in the trees all around, as well as a curious coati who came to check us out.

We would eat there again, but mainly because it’s one of the few options in the area, and I’d skip the tofu.

Pros: Beach/forest atmosphere , Dedicated vegan menu, Straight from the beach to lunch

Cons: Extremely expensive , Out of the burger
