Luke warm - Edit

We went to ancestors coffee for a hot drink on a cold day. I had a matcha latte and my Husband had a mocha, both I felt were luke warm, the milk in the middle of my drink actually felt cold, when I mentioned this in a reply to a friend's comment on Instagram they replied saying they can't heat the plant milk up too much as it loses it sweetness. I've never had an issue with this in other establishments and definitely prefer my lattes hot

CeiranTrigg 15 Mar 2018 - Hi Plumesworld.

Many thanks for you review.
Indeed that is correct, it applies to every plant milk as well as cows, goats or whatever mammals milk.
Like all products that you heat or cook, it begins to burn. milks begin to burn around 55oc, it’s at this point the fats begin to break down and lose sweetness. This is the point in which we stop heating the milk. This way we ensure that the beverages we serve are of the highest quality. In the same way we wouldn’t put burnt chickpeas or quinoa in our bowls.
We are however happy to remake your drink hotter if you’d have asked.
We have encountered this problem before as there seems to be some confusion as to what we do. We are not a cafe, we are not a coffee shop. We are a third wave specialty coffee shop in which quality is of the upmost importance from origin to bar. Coffee is a fruit and we aim to showcase the endless flavours naturally found in the fruit with or without the addition of milk.
Most commercial chains, often seen with ‘Fairtrade 100% arabica’ take there milk much much hotter at around 65-75oc, this has become the norm, the reason being the coffee, which is of a darker roast has the coffee beans themselves burnt, and the milk is expected to cover up the roasty, ashy taste of Typical coffee houses.

It’s also worth noting the minimum temperature for producing a burn on your skin is about 65°C for as little as two seconds. The tongue is much more sensitive, and we would in no way want anything to do with pallet damage or minor burns.

Coffee, cake and smoothies - Edit

All vegan cafe, say what!! This place is very hip and chill. Their coffee is delicious and they really care about the beans they use etc. The cake is unbelievable, and you get a big old bit too. Now smoothies, theirs are smooth and thick - perfect.

Pros: Quality, Atmosphere

Disappointed - Edit

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I came away feeling disappointed. I went with my daughter and mum, I had the roasted red pepper, mushroom and hummus sandwich which turned out to be raw pepper, raw mushrooms and hummus. My mum had the breakfast sandwich, i found it very oil but it tasted nice although the scrambled tofu needs improving. My daughter had avocado on toast which again was nice but way too stingy with the amount of avocado on there. The saving grace for the food was the good bread. My hot chocolate was yummy but only warm as was my mums tea. Also there was a 15 minute gap between them serving my food and her food. The staff were polite but not hugely welcoming. I really feel there is great potential here but unfortunately it wasn't great this time.

Pros: vegan, nice drinks

Cons: food needs improving, not very welcoming atmospher

ONE STAR. Poor service - Edit

(Would rate one star but the website does a minimum of 2.)

Me and my partner have been here on multiple occasions and usually, everything is fine. The food can be a little lacking, the drinks are lovely, and normally the customer service is either good or decent. Today, however, we were incredibly disappointed.
We placed our order at the same time as each other, as per usual. Our drinks arrived together (my chai was poorly made but the filter coffee was fine). When the food was brought up, one of our two dishes was given to the table next to us (despite their group of four having ordered after we did). We then had to wait 15 minutes for my partner's food to arrive, by which point I had finished. I wouldn't have been so upset by this had we received an apology, but nothing was said by our server and when I brought it up, he was rude and shrugged our complaint off with an annoyed expression on his face. It was incredibly poor customer service. Stay away from here if you see either of the male servers working as we actually saw them roll their eyes as we exited. Don't go here.

Pros: Nice aesthetics, Decent food

Cons: Poor service, Not enough food for cost

All vegan coffee shop :) - Edit

A lovely independent vegan coffee shop and it was open on a Sunday. I only had a coffee and cookie but the menu sounded good with a variety of breakfast and lunch options. Service was friendly and the big window at the front makes it feel nice and airy inside.
It is on the same road as Little Shop of Vegans (and Vegan Wok) so it was a handy place to stop on my way to the shop.

Pros: Great coffee, All vegan, Open on Sunday
