Spot on good!! - Edit
Very tasty food and friendly atmosphere. A must go to place if I'm in the area. Their Dr. K's CURE ALL soup is the BEST, even if you're not sick but really helps when you are.

Excellent Fresh Prepared to Order Foods - Edit
Today I found a gem of a restaurant, Amitabul Restaurant on Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL. The menu is loaded with unique vegan food items that will suit anyone's taste. Per Chef Bill's recommendation, I ordered the Mandoo Vegan Dumplings. These small grilled dumplings were tender, flavorful and filled with fresh vegetables. I especially liked them with the spicy sauce. Chef Bill also suggested the Maha Pyogo. This is a generous portion dish of fresh brown rice with a large portion of mixed mushrooms and green vegetables in a garlic sauce. It was excellent. Finally, I ordered the Dark Side of the Moon. Don't pass on this entree, it was great. Lots of oyster mushrooms, shitake mushrooms and tender long noodles in a tasty black bean sauce. All the food is steam stirred on oil in the wok frying.

The best dumplings I’ve ever had! Dr K’s healing soup and kimchi stir fry were so delicious and the green tea ice cream was to die for! We will definitely be back to get these dishes again and explore more of the menu 😋

Unique offerings and good portions - Edit
We order spring rolls, 2 miso soups, mung-bean pancakes, and 2 rice curries. Everything was delicious and we both left very full. The restaurant has a tranquil ambiance and the staff was very kind. The restaurant essentially appears to be fat-free, which is good for people with cardiovascular disease but may leave people craving some more calories.

It was so bad - Edit
I hate to give a bad review to a restaurant owned by nice people but this was the worst place I’ve ever eaten. I think the reviewers are liars I’m sorry 😭. I have eaten a lot of similar foods (in Korea) and food made without oil and salt can taste good… this did not😒the soup tasted like soggy water veggies and the rice on the “sushi” was so hard it hurt my tooth! It was disgusting I spit it out. The kimchi pancakes were ok but undercooked it was kinda gross. Never would eat here again.

Love the decor on the walls. The music was simple and relaxing. I had the mung bean pancakes, which were good, but the dipping sauce was addictive. I'm so excited for leftovers! The ice cream was great too.

Amazing Vegan food! You must get here! - Edit
I love Amitabul! I've been a fan since it opened at its former location. Worth the trip every time. I adore Yin and Yang, Tibetan High Moon, Sweet Curry Noodle and the spicy Kimchi Maki rolls. The owner Bill is very nice and always helps me order soy free. I love how he turned this out of the way, neighborhood location, into a comfy vegan nook filled with Korean Buddhist art and special touches. I love that he kept the vintage booths. and that he puts a before meal inspirational narrative on each table. I'm a huge fan of this place.

Amitabul never disappoints. Excellent and fresh tasting food. It can be difficult to find restaurant food that is flavorful and filling that is not cooked with oil - most of their dishes are made this way. Ample portion sizes as well.

HCLF Vegan restaurant, food good, owners well... - Edit
I appreciate that there is a restaurant where I can find oil-free foods to satisfy my HCLF vegan diet. The foods are pretty good, but I will say the sign on the door that says "Nobody wants to work anymore!" is pretty offputting.

Super Healthy Food That Tastes Good - Edit
I honestly don’t know why I don’t come here more often especially since this is one of the few places that I can a get a super healthy vegan meal that is full of veggies and whole grains, and I have tons of options. No vegan fast food here.
Read moreI ordered the Energy Pancakes which came with 3 sauces that I really enjoyed dipping into. I also ordered the jade make sushi. The flavor was perfect and the sauce wasn’t overly salty. Just really healthy food that tasted good and felt good too.
The only complaint, which confuses me, is that they use styrofoam containers. So much good going on here - I totally don’t get why these are still being used. #Veganuary

Amazing oil free stir "fry's" - Edit
They steam saute most of their dishes and label the ones that do contain oil. Finally a vegan place that's actually healthy. Perfect for WFPB eating patterns (who are flexible on salt, miso is a thing 😉). We eat here every chance we get. Love this place.

Casual and comforting. The ginger citron tea is delicious and healing. It's rare to be able to eat at an Asian restaurant without having to navigate past a meat laden menu. I felt safe here.
