Vegan pizza, sandwiches, and brunch in Dayton?

Pinch me!

I ate here twice this weekend. As of this weekend, they have been open 3 weeks. At 3 weeks, there are some start up pains that were rather painful, such as putting real cheese on my vegan pizza and taking well over an hour to serve me my breakfast, BUT they are nice people, they are socially conscious, eco-friendly, and they are trying to provide vegan options in a vegan desert (Dayton). For that, I will overlook a lot of screw ups by a place that has been open for only 3 weeks.

The vegan pizza was excellent. They use Daiya and you can get a whole wheat crust. I generally will just order a vegan pizza with no cheese, as I really don't like the oily, greasy texture, calories, and saturated fat of Daiya, but I was in a mood for cheesy pizza on this day and this one hit the spot. I had it all veggies and soyrizo for the meat substitute. No complaints. I really liked the crust. The next day, I came in for the "Vegan Benedict" and I think it was very good. What I liked about it, most people might not. The vegan Hollandaise sauce was very thin and not the usual thick, high fat, high oil sauce you usually see. It was lighter and still had good flavor. The portion was a bit tiny, considering it only comes with a slice of melon. It would be better if the dish came with breakfast potatoes and some fruit. I ordered a side order of potatoes that came swimming in oil, but they were good otherwise. I wish restaurants wouldn't smother everything in oil. The coffee was ok, but I like darker roast coffees and this was more like donut shop coffee. Personal preference.

All-in-all, I found the place promising. Not perfect (no soy milk for coffee), but they are just getting started and they seem to really want to do right by vegans. They are good people and good people should always be supported.

Pros: Vegan Pizza!!!!, Vegan Sandwiches, Great outdoor patio

Cons: Slow service - be very patient, Uncoordinated - be very patient
