Interesting cafe - Edit
We ate here September 2016.
Laid back, friendly cafe.
I had a very well made butternut squash risotto.
The sorbets were delicious, especially the coconut one.
I think the menu could have been a little more adventurous. It felt like home cooking but was most enjoyable,
Pros: Excellent service, Tasty food, Lively area
Cons:

Awful service - Edit
Been to Amala before for breakfast and loverd it. I was very excited to visit again for dinner.
That's when it went wrong...
1) drinks took half an hour to come
2) the food took over an hour, when questioning the waitress where it was she was shocked as she thought the manager (who took our order) explained that the order wasn't put through but it will be the next one out.
3) we were offered a drink (which you would assume would be complimentary because of the error - no it wasn't)
4) when paying for the bill they hadn't taken off the free side which you get when ordering two cocktails
5) even though our waitress apologised the manager who took our order and processed my payment (who overcharged us and was the one who didn't put order through ) didn't apologise or offer any form of discount or complimentary anything.
This has been to date the worst service I have ever received. I understand places being understaffed and busy - I get that. But be apologetic and inform the customer of any errors and offer something ... anything as a good will gesture.
Pros: Breakfast juices, Pancakes
Cons: Service, Slow

amazingly tasty food!! - Edit
My boyfriend and I Just had our lunch here and we enjoyed every bit of our experience, from the decor to the friendly staff and most importantly the absolutely fantastic food! I had the all day breakfast which was well portioned for a standard size (they offer large too!) and my bf had the BBQ jackfruit pitta with sweet potato chips.....wasn't disappointed with anything, the cost was reasonable too, for good quality food in a great spot! We will definitely return here again and will be recommending it to our friends and family!

Fabulous! - Edit
This place is just the best advert for vegan food!
Both the exterior and interior are beautiful, and you can see the attention to detail that has gone into it. They have perfectly captured the middle ground between bourgeois chic and hippie zen! Anyone could feel at home there.
I ate there twice in one day and the atmosphere was great - there were groups of friends and families, people deep in conversation and soft music in the background. A friendly, attentive and enthusiastic team to serve and answer any questions; and all remarkably knowledgeable about all the dishes offered.
As for the food, well it's out of this world. Just the right sized portions, beautifully presented, tasty, healthy, cruelty-free and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?!
I had a tasty soup of the day and the raw Zoodles medley as my starters, a delicious Green Goddess juice (full of goodness - kale, broccoli, celery, apple, cucumber, ginger & lime - and yet light, sweet and creamy), the slow-roasted vegetables were succulent and the huge Amala burger melted in the mouth and its accompaniment of coleslaw, sweet potato chips (proper chips, not crisps) and cashew mayonnaise were perfect. The side dish of "wilted spinach and kale" defied its name to be full of texture and flavour. The vanilla and cranberry cheesecake was superb. I've always been a bit wary of vegan cheese but this had no cheese in yet managed to be totally convincing.
This is a place that has to be tried by vegans and non-vegans alike. It may convert more than a few!
I'm delighted to find a vegan place that can be soooo good!
Pros: Great food, Great decor & atmosphere , Great service
Cons: None

A dream come true :) - Edit
When I moved to Poole from Peterborough I was hopeful to find more conscious people and places. Well - #amalaWestbourne is all I could have hoped for.
The team there love what they do. It's obvious and shines through every part of your amala experience. From the little rituals like the hot lemon water welcome drink to a great selection of vegan gluten free food.
The place is magical and I love what they have created there. The interior is clean, beautiful and calming. The intimate restaurant is my new 'third place' between home and work.
Best way to find out is to check it out.
Pros: vegan gluten free, great atmosphere, lovely staff
Cons: not open for breakfast, Monday and Tuesday closed
