Great vegan bar

Amazing cocktails. Fully vegan. Been three times and always loved the food - my friend once got the sandwich and said it was too picky and flavourless but I have always had the other options and fully loved it. Staff always sweet.

Pros: Fully vegan, Great cocktails

Cons: Soggy sandwiches:(

What a hidden gem!

Just off Tib st, if you're lucky you'll spot Alvarium. Its such a great place for cocktails or lunch or dinner. Their Sunday roast is a must try and although the portions look on the slightly small side the food is of a next level standard.
The flavours that are packed in to every dish is magical. Last time we went just before lockdown we had the curried tofu and miso aubergine wrap and they both just had little things on them that made the taste and flavours keep on coming. There were this little orange bon-bons on the tofu wrap that I still think about, no idea what it was but tasted out of this world.
They allow dogs which is always great and their 2 for £10 cocktails is a bargain for anywhere in the Northern Quarter.
They now have outdoor seating and whenever I pass it looks busy which is so well deserved. Can not wait to be back soon!

Pros: Incredible cocktails, Exquisite food, Lovely decor and dogs

Good but overpriced

The sandwich fillings are really tasty and the sides were simple but well done. It’s a lovely space and the staff are great. But the pricing is questionable, £8 for a sandwich that’s not a noteworthy size is just unreasonable. At full price I’d have paid £11.50 and I left still a little hungry.

Creative Vegan Options

Alvarium is a bar in the trendy Northern Quarter of Manchester and its name means 'beehive' so bees feature heavily in the interior design, with a feature wall of foliage, flowers and bees, menu logos and of course worker bees are the symbol of Manchester.
The menu is all vegan, with vegan wines and a full list of vegan cocktails. I chose jack a l'orange, escalivada and polenta fries and hubby opted for black eyed pea and squash curry, with sticky tamarind potatoes.

The food was scrumptious, the curry had a perfect mix of spices, yet not too hot and the tamarind potatoes were a perfect partner. The polenta fries with tahini mayo were so moreish I could easily munch on them forever, the escalivada was packed with flavour and jackfruit with orange was very creative and delicious. We were impressed with our lunch and next visit, after seeing a customer being served the magnificent looking beer battered gem lettuce sandwich, I know what I will be having.

We had a brief chat with General Manager Max, a vegan herself, who created the vegan cocktail list and had a hand in the vegan options being offered, created by talented head chef Adam Leavy, which I think will pay off. Manchester has a huge vegan community and to be able to wine and dine knowing everything is vegan, is reassuring for diners like me. Highly recommended.
