Tolles veganes Essen

Hier bekommt man viele vegane Optionen geboten. Beim Abendessen leider nur ein veganes Gericht zwar, aber das war immer sehr gut, beim Frühstück viele verschiedene vegane speisen.

Pros: Selbstgemachter veganer Käse

Cons: Fleisch ist allgegenwärtig

Relax and feast

We went there in summer when half of the hotel was empty (I think they usually make a lot more business in winter during the skiing season). That meant we had the wellness area almost to ourselves which was quite positive. Also we had a really nice and fully equipped room (you can choose between different pillows and mattresses). The staff was super friendly at any time and there was some sports program for every day.

Now the most important: since the breakfast buffet does not offer a lot for vegans besides margarine and marmalade we got our own "vegan tower" which meant an étagère with vegan cheese/ham, yogurt/pudding, fruits and some spreads. Additionally, there was the option to order vegan pancakes or vegan scrambled eggs.

For dinner they offered a vegan 5 course menu. First, you can get salad from the salad buffet (half of it vegan). Then, there is a vegan appetizer, vegan soup, vegan main course and vegan dessert. One evening there was even a small vegan dessert buffet which I quite liked. We stayed for three nights which meant that we could try three different 5 course menus. Some of them I found really creative (cheese panna cotta). Some of them appeared to me like an "experiment" like the vegan creme brulee which tasted only sweet and watery. I didn't like that we had four times the same sauce, once there was a dairy product on my plate to keep the bowl and spoon in place and the drinks buffet didn't include oat milk. The vegan cheese platter is definitely recommendable!

Pros: Chilly atmosphere , Friendly staff, Cheese platter

Cons: Dairy product on a vegan plate, No oat milk on the buffet

Marketing Gag

There is a variety of vegan choices for breakfast and the staff knows what "vegan" means. Besides that there is a vast array of meat, fish and dairy to chose from so as a vegan you feel like a second class customer. Also for example for dinner you have only one choice and there's four different choices for the standard customers. There is a hunting trophy in the dining room and a mounted groundhog on the hotels first floor. That made me feel like the vegan options are more a marketing gag. So eating at this place is much less annnoying than at other hotels because there always is a vegan option but I didn't enoy it a lot for the reasons stated above.

Pros: Vegan cake, Plant milk for coffee, Vegan option

Cons: A lot of meat

Stylish place with excellent vegan menu

This is a great find. Too bad I cannot rate it five 5 stars. The restaurant is located in an upscale hotel decorated in Alpine style with a great view on the surrounding mountains. Since 2019 their chef has specialized in vegan cuisine and they offer a vegan 5-course menu which changes every day. Price was very reasonable for the quality of what was offered (€33.90 in Aug 2020). All dishes from the menu were well presented and very tasty. The nice thing is that they have succeeded in making traditional Austrian cuisine (which is heavy on meat and dairy) accessible to vegans. The first course was an extensive salad bar where vegan options were clearly marked. This was followed by a vegetable soufflé, minestrone soup, dumplings in mushroom sauce and topped off with a mocha crème brûlée. Some of the a la carte dishes are also vegan or can be made vegan. Our daughter had the veganized baked potato which she very much liked. Staff is friendly and accommodating to families. We were a bit underdressed after a day of hiking in the mountains, but that was no problem at all.

Pros: Very tasty vegan menu, Good price, Friendly staff

Vegan friendly Hotel with very good vegan menu

This hotel is vegan friendly certified and offers a complete vegan menu for its guests. Even the cookie on your bed when you check in is vegan!

We stayed here for 5 days and the food was excelent.

For breakfast you get your own vegan breakfast tower with varying items on it.
Additionally you can order tofu scramble (for no additional cost), wich was very delicious.

At the buffet all vegan meals are cleary marked as vegan.
During our stay, the hotel even had it's own vegan cheese at the lunch buffet.

The whole team was very good trained and informed about the vegan offerings.

The Aktivhotel Alpendorf was one of the best hotels we ever stayed and we would be very happy to stay here again in the future!

Pros: Excellent vegan meal, Tofu Scramble for breakfast, Vegan Breakfast Tower :-)
