Suburban vegan wonderland (for the wealthy) - Edit

This place is out of the way! I hoped to do an evening meal but that was not on offer over the weekend unless I pre booked an entire event for myself! Aloacherie started as outside caterers and describe themselves as a pop up restaurant but it doesn't feel very temporary! In fact the Sunday breakfast buffet I managed to eventually find, no thanx to google maps pinning them on the other side of the road!, felt like walking into a posh hotel. All white table cloths and seat covers, hin n weg it was not! The buffet costs 18 euro basic with drinks on top and the clientele reflected this cost , and the fact that we had cycled out into a wealthy middle class suburb! I turned off my BS Detector and focused on the food. Three hot dishes, two potato based, a red wine soaked sietan shepherds pie and asparagus with boiled spuds both very nice. The third was a very good tofu scramble with little chunks of tasty tofu amongst the yellow "egg". Lots of bread but no marge!! Not even the lovely Ahlsan spread that is everywhere in vegan Europe but not the UK! Croissants a whole basket of them to eat as many as you want!! Unfortunately no marmalade or choc spread to go with them but three other jams. Muesli, yoghurt, salads, cheese, tofu and meat slices and creations I haven't seen before are all included. And you may "return" as often as you like. The fake coffee I had was fancy and lovely and the real coffee Andi had was equally good she said. There were two fruity deserts including a lovely light creamy mousse thing topped with a layer of red fruit compote. I would have the proper names for all these interesting creations but this is one increasingly rare place in Hamburg where they don't bother writing things in English which is a shame but fair enough I guess!
So is it worth the price tag? Well yes, if you like your vegan food this is as good as anything I've had in Hamburg, it would be interesting to see how a dinner at Aloacherie compares to Leaf. But if you have no need to rush and you can "put it away" then I,d recommend this buffet!

Pros: Very good quality food, Good selection and hot foods, Croissants!!!

Cons: Expensive, No margarine or marmalade or choc spread!, Had to listen to someone make a long announcement

Bunchtastic! - Edit

On Sundays this somewhat far-away upscale restaurant serves an all vegan brunch for €18 which is alittle steep but if you can afford it then you definitly should! There is sweet starters with fresh fruit, cold-cuts and newly baked bread, hot entrées and wonderful desserts. A must if you can afford it but book a day ahead just in case.

Pros: Lots of options

Cons: Nothing totaly amazing on it's own

Hipster place, but so delicious - Edit

After being located in Schanzenviertel in Hamburg they moved ten days ago to a new venue in Ottensen.
The neighbourhood is quite quiet, there is not much going on, at least on a Sunday. It's obvious that they don't expect walk-in customers - considering the opening hours Alohacherie seems to be first and foremost a catering service and only secondly a restaurant.
So I was there for lunch on Sunday (the first regular Sunday after they reopened). Do reserve, that's almost mandatory. The sophisticated decoration states at the very first glance how high-end this eatery is.
There were two menus (starter, main, dessert) to choose from: Each dish reads pretty well. I was served highly creative dishes made out of very fresh produce that tasted amazing, all without exception!
Allegedly they aspire to become the first vegan starred restaurant in the world - as far as I am concerned they are well on the way to that. Everything, food, quality, service was outstanding, maybe the locality wasn't that great, but that's the only small exception.
Staff was most pleasant! They have free and good Wi-Fi.
But the prices are - as you may have already figured - pretty fancy. The menu 1 was 38 Euro, menu 2 32 Euro, beverages excluded. I am not saying, it's don't worth it, but you have be able to afford it. That being said, I won't discount one cow for the prices, since it's clear that's a high-end restaurant.
Would go again on a special occasion.

Pros: most creative and most fresh dishes, excellent food, real taste adventure, committed to ecological concept

Cons: expensive venue if there ever was one, you are ought to reserve, tricky opening hours

Best place in Hamburg for Breakfast - Edit

This place is just amazing. Staff are super friendly and managed to explain the menu in english for us.

The breakfast is served on a 3 plate tower with fresh greens, tomatoes, avocado, marmalade, cheese, Croissants, fresh bread.

21 euros for 2 people which I think is very reasonable considering the quality of the produce and the atmosphere.

My partner and I had a Soja Latte which was excellent.

A great atmosphere and an absolute must for anyone wanting a super tasty breakfast.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Pros: Friendly Staff, Excellent Breakfast, Nice atmosphere and layout

Cons: None
