From their FB page:
I has been a wonderful ride. The Cafe is now sold and on to a new owner. They are opening in one month. We have made so many great friends, our Hawaii Ohana has so grown, and will continue. I have leaned a lot living here in Kona, good souls, good energy and healthy atmosphere. The island is all about family and love. We will take this back home to Oregon with us. Thank you all, Bless you ... A very big Hug to all .... Aloha The McGarrah Family, Patrick, Shannon, Chris and Anah

I will be in the area within a few days and will check to see what is in its place and whether it's a veg-friendly stop.

Awesome!! - Edit

The Alii Buzz has new owners as of last summer! They're a super sweet family and seem to really care about their customers and the quality of what they serve.

Talking with them, they said they've been changing and adding new menu items, trying to find their niche and what works best for them and their customers. Also talked about their plans to incorporate more new vegan foods, and vegan/gluten free baked goods!

Overall, I really appreciated the vibe of the cafe, and their goal to provide healthy food.

Pros: Quality food, Good vibe

Not worth stopping at for vegans at all - Edit

They had one vegan baked good -- a gluten-free berry vegan scone that as someone else mentioned was awful -- and one other vegan option, a vegan burger that was just a burger out of a box in the freezer, like a Garden Burger (but a different brand), the kind you would get in your own grocery store. That was it. The vibe is beachy but so is every single other location on this Ali'i Drive strip. MUCH better to go to Evolution Bakery a 10 minute walk down the road

Pros: Beachy vibe

Cons: Very limited options, Food was gross

Just okay - Edit

The gf-vegan pastry tasted so old, dry and bland that I couldn't finish a small bite. Friendly enough place, easy to chill with a beer out on the side patio. Not much for a hungry vegan to eat, though. This is more of a drinks and smoothies place.

Pros: convenient for cruise visitors

Delicious - Edit

This is a very helpful and accommodating place. I'm actually not vegetarian, but have food allergies and must be careful of the food I'm being served. The wait staff was very helpful and willing to divulge the ingredients in the food. I had a lovely salad with falafel that was delicious and followed it with a gluten free berry scone. I will be back. Our server was friendly, knowledgable and willing to help.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly, helpful staff, Good value

Cons: Only one staff member on site, Few indoor seating options
