slightly disappointed - Edit

lacks the vibe i enjoy at most health food places, felt more like a bar. the salad i got was enormous however way overpriced considering i could have made it at home easily, tasted ok but not truly exciting or satisfying.
i will say that the majority of the menu was not too pricey but what i ordered was too expensive for what it was.

Pros: large portions , nice staff

Cons: odd vibe

vego restaurant in red light district - good food & nice staff - Edit

this is small restaurant with a street-front pool table ... there was no massaman curry on the menu so I had the pumpkin curry with brown rice (฿180) and it was delicious ... the price was not cheap however both the quality and quantity of the food were very good ... the staff were friendly and were keen to chat about the food ... while I won't be back every day I certainly will be eating there every time I visit Chiang Mai

Pros: lots of vegan options, good food & friendly staff

Cons: red light district may not be suitable for everyon

Raw Specialists - Edit

This place may not fit into New Age Mentality but if you simply want the best, healthiest and most creative food in Chiang Mai Province then this is the place. I recommend Cheesecake and Super Salads.

Pros: Quality, Taste, Super Food Friendly

Tasty but pricey - Edit

Food is very nice, but pricy! A big LCD tv is showing Music video's turning the place into a dance floor instead of a relaxing dining atmosphere.

Pros: Tasty, lots of options

Cons: TV

Vegan and raw friendly - Edit

Tiny little restaurant in the red light district, easy to spot thanks to large signs out front proclaiming "vegan" and "superfoods"! Actual eating area is set back a bit from the road behind a pool table out front. Inside, large TV playing loud pop music videos and only a couple of tables to sit at. Menu is large with many raw and/or vegan dishes, all clearly marked. Pad thai was pretty good. Only one dessert option on menu was available - the raw vegan passion fruit/banana/coconut cheesecake - it was served still partially frozen in the center but tasted delicious regardless.

Pros: Lots of raw and vegan dishes

Cons: Location in red light district

Loved - Edit

So much better the the other regular type or to put it bluntly the backpacker type veggie restaurants in Chiang Mai. This place outscores them all on quality and ingenuity. I understand this type of food since I am a practicing clinical nutritionalist. I loved the Kao Soi with the vegan option noodle. Clearly the best I tasted in Thailand. The Raw Cheesecake I had to order a second to take home. This place is just plain cool. I actually like the crazy location on Loi Kroh Rd. Plenty of action. The inside is air conditioned btw.

Pros: Great High End Quality Food, Location, Lovely Staff

Top meal - Edit

Great experience, awesom food and lovely staff. We ordered raw eggplant lasagna and raw zucchini spagehtti which was delicious. The prices are resonable given the fact that everything is organic and free from toxins no white sugar no msg. If you love vegetarian meals please check out Alice

Raw Vegan Super Foods - Edit

Can't say enough about this place. It is different than any other Vegan place in CNX. It serves Top Shelf alcohol! They are in the Red Light District but still a must go if you understand nutrition and the need for high quality Vegan food. Try one of the the Super Salads with cooked marinated Tempeh you won't be disappointed. The Raw Dessert were also amazing. They have a small shelf that offers a few products for the vegan traveler. Recommend

Pros: Super Foods, Red Light Street, Serve Patron and Grey Goose as well as Wheatgrass

Cons: Red Light Street?

So Good - Edit

This place is the bomb. I have read others that complain about this place but I still have no clue why. The prices are fair or even cheap for the quality served. This is the only serious Raw Vegan Restaurant that I have personally been to in Chiang Mai. If you want Super Foods and that type of fitness food this is the place. I personally loved the veggie burger made with over 30 ingredients. Whole Grain bun option with vegan cheese option. They also sell all types of super food powders rarely seen in Thailand. Highly recommend:)

Pros: Raw Vegan/Vegan, Super Foods, Air Conditioned

Cons: Not a lot of space but enough

very disappointing - Edit

I had a raw super salad which was ok (but overpriced) and a burger - probably the worst burger I've ever had. The patty was so dry it crumbled when trying to cut it, bread was hard as a rock and the while burger was so tiny I wouldn't even consider it an appetizer.
The worst part about the experience though, was the place itself; you are practically eating between a pool table and a bar - quite weird to promote healthy eating and getting drunk in the same spot. And then there's the owner - really intense type, loud and with no sense of situation, he really makes the atmosphere unpleasant.
Overall a really bad experience that cost me 780 baht - an amount that will buy you a weeks worth of decent vegan meals elsewhere in Chiang Mai.

Disappointing - Edit

We were very excited to see the vegan signage as we walked down the street and to be fair the Super Super salad was fantastic but the rest of the experience was not great. There is a very strange atmosphere to the place partly caused by the owner who was quite intense. The salad was lovely but everything else we ordered was either tasteless or very bitter and unpleasant. A shame.

Loved it - Edit

I guess not everyone on this site can appreciate this place like I do. This place as well as staff and owner are surely different. The food in my opinion is the healthiest vegan food in Chiang Mai. I may not be the cheapest but then again neither is a steak. Their Raw Food Menu is one of a kind and worth a visit. It's in The Red Light District so easy to find.

Pros: unique menu, easy to find, Raw Vegan Food

Cons: Not really street food prices

Here, no meat options... Only good RAW food !!! - Edit

I discovered this place by hazard.
I was very happy when I browsed the menu because it was really RAW food dishes.
Fresh, creative and tasty!
Not like other places I've tried who claim that they are vegan, organic and vegetarian but offer you a meat option for 40 bahts or simply change the chicken for tofu instead.
The portions are big.
Power zucchinis pasta, energetic salads and desserts are yummy^^
For me it's a place to discover but if you are waiting to eat in a meditation place with crystal, candles and incenses everywhere, it's not for you.
This place is different and that's why it is so special.
Super Raw Food Genius's at this strange little place and concept.

Pros: REAL, RAW, FOOD

Cons: NOTHING, TO, SAY

nice - Edit

Food was ok , good size , the burger was nice
Staff just ignored us and offered no sides
Owner is intense and in the way
Told if we wanted desert I should pre order on FB .... I'd never been before lol

Pros: good size, free from salt and other nastys

Cons: staff, price, mosquitos

Purrboat 21 May 2016 - If you were ignored then how could the owner ignore you? He was in the way! No one told you to order on FB. That is not possible. What you were told was if you wanted raw vegan dessert and you wanted it not frozen ( all raw vegan desserts are due to their nature ) to pre order. Of course you did not. Move along little one:-)

worst of chiang mai - Edit

ordered a soup, rice, juice and more juice. I stayed awhile since I met some cool people there. food was overpriced, pineapple juice was not fresh and most expensive I paid anywhere, 120baht for a small glass. met the owner and he had a disgusting mouth, talked about the "whore house" next door.

Cons: expensive

Purrboat 21 May 2016 - First of all JASON, it is a Massage Parlor and not a "Whore House" next door. They are beautiful and friendly. Perhaps girls on Loi Kroh offend your high morals? Perhaps you should go pray for guidance and perhaps free food at one of the many temples. Don't worry Alice's won't miss you nor will the girls of Loi Kroh Rd.

major fail - Edit

very overpriced for what it offers
the food is very dull and rather tasteless. zero atmosphere, feels completely out of place.

Pros: good selection

Cons: way to expensive, tasteless

Purrboat 21 May 2016 - Your photo in your profile says it all:-) Just another low rent looking for cheap vegan street food in a super food restaurant. Surely we won't miss you. Perhaps you would like to bring your own white salt when visiting other types of similar restaurants. This way you couldn't complain about blandness. Zero atmosphere? How is that possible when we are in the heart of the Red Light District. Oh let me guess you don't like girls in tight dresses and heels. From your Pai style look you were already out of place before you ever sat down.'No apologies as usual:-)

kiniasia 21 May 2016 - You can be very mislead by appearance.
If we would be backpackers we would not even order at your place considering the prices. We actually run vegan restaurant ourselves, also in Thailand so you can keep your judgement to yourself.
Maybe if you would try to change your attitude, intention and motivation, you will get better results. All the best.

Huge Disappointment - Edit

We ate here to give ourselves a "treat" but just felt like we lost our money.
Besides the portions being very reasonable, the taste of the food was incredibly disappointing and we had no service at all.
In general the food was dry and tasteless.
It is a ridiculously overpriced place, no sense of value whatsoever, and the vibe is simply wierd...

Cons: overpriced, no service, wierd vibe

Purrboat 21 May 2016 - Sorry we do not serve cheap vegan street food. You get what you pay for in this world. No money no honey so to speak or in your case no superfoods. Weird vibe? Sorry if we are not New Age Vegan Hippies. No we hate chanting, crystals and all the other New Age BS. We love the Blues and girls in tight short dresses and superfoods. Surely Alice's is not for you:-)

A gem in the city - Edit

So happy to have found this place. The green tea leaf salad was incredible!! Anyone who knows high quality food and especially knows how much time and energy goes into making raw foods will appreciate this place. Living in Hawaii I understand what overpriced food is. Alice's has great prices for what they are serving and I will be sure to eat here each time I visit Chiang Mai!

Pros: High quality, Lots to choose from , Great Green tea leaf salad!

most expensive place in Chiang mai - Edit

So obnoxiously overpriced (300 baht for very simple dishes), and a weird vibe. Granted, we didn't stay to try the dishes, we just flipped through the menu, laughing at the prices... But thought we'd warn the budget vegan travellers out there not to waste their time.

Purrboat 20 Mar 2016 - Simple dishes? You didn't there? Obviously you have no concept of high end raw vegan super foods. Don't want to spend money on high quality ingredients? I suggest the many other Cheap Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurants in Chiang Mai. Perhaps you should Google Paradise Farms in Miami to educate yourself on the cost of a 4 course Raw Vegan meal. Oh that would be $177 USD. Of course you wouldn't eat there either. No "sorries" from Alice's. Yes we are the most expensive Raw Vegan/Vegan Restaurant in Chiang Mai and the best. We have nothing to apologize for and if you don't like the "vibe", try Tantra Yoga.

Super Cool - Edit

I am from Burma so I appreciated the green tea salad. Great humus platter and super raw eggplant lasagne. I never had seen this type of high end healthy vegan food in Northern Thailand or in Burma my home country. Great to see this type of vegan food! Great Bar too:-)

Pros: Healthy, Superfoods, Unique

Cons: Not cheap but worth it, Red light district, No fish

Great!!!! - Edit

I work close by and this place is a diamond in a sea of mediocrity. So happy they are finally open. I love the seaweed salads and raw cheesecakes. My favs. Super cool staff and location. A must for health minded travellers. Be forewarned they do no salt the food but ample pink salt is readily available if desired:-)

Pros: Super foods, Friendly , Serve alcohol

Cons: No meat, No fish, Not really for backpacker budget.

disappointing - Edit

I tried only raw food : juices smoothies desserts and dish. Taste was disappointing. Dish was way too fatty. All raw options have walnut pate that is tasteless.
Food was disappointing but service as well. We had to repeat our order twice to two different people, poor english, had aluminium paper in my pie, they dont accept credit cards, have to ask things twice etc... Also it's expensive for what you get. Will not come back.

Pros: large choice of superfoods

Cons: tasteless, poor service, expensive

Purrboat 13 Jan 2016 - There is no salt in the food, hence why you think no taste. Walnut pate' is on on dishes specifying "walnut pate". This is Thailand English is a second language. Expensive? Try to find the same ingredients in Chiang Mai. Yes your cheesecake had a piece of aluminum foil in it and was immediately replaced. Sorry about the tin foil as for the rest of your complaining go to the many other cheaper unhealthier options in Chiang Mai. Alice's Restaurant and Bar won't lose any sleep over your absence:-)

nah - Edit

The personnel were so cold you wouldnt even need an AC there. We were the only people there, and yet we had to wait for everything an eternity. The meal was mediocre for such price. Havent tried any dessert, because I was really looking forward to be gone.

I'll take the advice of the owner from the comments here in the reviews section, and I'll eat elsewhere the next time.

Purrboat 13 Jan 2016 - Since you were the only customers there I am quite sure your food was out fast considering we have no less than five staff for a restaurant that seats 29. Go elsewhere. We apologize for nothing to you. We are the highest quality raw vegan and vegan food in Chiang Mai bar none. Oh and the highest quality alcohol anywhere in the area. Did I miss anything?

yedpodtrzitko 18 Feb 2016 - Did you actually read the review? Because it feels like you just saw two stars, so you put fingers in your ears to not hear anything, and start yelling "highest quality this, highest quality that!"
It is not - read the review, and try to think about it. I cant find a single reason, why would anyone make a bad fake review. Unless you are just paranoid.
You'll become a good restaurant, not by saying that over and over in the comments, or by creating fake 5-star reviews, but when other people will actually say it. We did not. Deal with it.

Purrboat 07 Apr 2016 - We could care less if you don't like us. We do make fake 5 star reviews customers make them. We already are a great restaurant and we do not cater or bow down to anyone:-) If we make the rare mistake we admit it and apologize. Like I said you are for sure not an MMA fighter, Pro athlete, retired professor but likely a New Age backpacking on the cheap in CNX type. Not our customer base for sure:-) See ya. NOT:-)

Purrboat 15 Dec 2015 - I am the a..hole owner you refer to. If you wanted to give zero for a restaurant that everyone else rates five why rate 2? Sorry if we didn't get your order right we are not machines. Oh yea I forgot they f up too. If (which is unlikely) you did get the wrong item I am sure it was more than made up for. Our food stands on it's own merit second to none in Chiang Mai. If my prices are not to your liking eat elsewhere. We cater to the intelligent, smart, hip and edgy crowd. We don't claim to please everyone. We only claim highest quality food and healthy raw ingredients when and wherever possible. Sure you were not rushed, nor am I pushy. A..hole 1000%. and proud of it. You are the first (and inevitable) hater. Big deal. We have MMA fighters, world travelers, locals and an eclectic group of followers. All thank me for being brave enough to do what I do and where we do it. You are obviously not in our fan base but hey again, so what! You have many other options in Chiang Mai, cheaper, less healthy, more fake and who know maybe the owner will be less of an a...ole if your real lucky. Alice's makes few apologies ever and in this case I already said we were sorry "if" your order wasn't right. That's as far s it goes in the sorry department. We generally apologize for nothing. So consider the above our deepest apology (Not) Some will love some will hate. That's life.

My new favorite place in cm - Edit

As a passionate vegan cook, i was happy to find a place where finally someone knows how to cook tempeh.

The raw-cakes are one of the best i have ever tried, and they where even nice enough to explain me how to do it.

The raw spagetthi where delicious too, Also try the homemade kombucha.

The price is more then fair for the ingridients and quality of organic food they use. Any experienced and passionate cook will realize that. (organic pines, macademia etc...)

Oh! And the best? Real (not cooked) fresh Coconuts for drinking! :-)

We've been there 3 times, and also enjoyed to sit and talk with Alice & Chris. The owners and the staff are very friendly, and Chris has great stories to tell and knowledge to share.

Great Selection - Edit

They have a raw food selection that you won't find anywhere else in Chiang Mai, at least not in the city. There are some really delicious classic raw dishes. Only disappointment is that they are not completely vegan as a couple of dishes contain egg whites or honey. Love it that they have a full bar in the evening, too.

Chef Chris- great Food and desserts - Edit

Amazing amazing vegan desserts!!!! That's what I remember! I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Chris while he was in Miami, couple years back.. I tried some of his amazing desserts! For something to be so delicious and strictly raw & vegan was super awesome for me as I am vegan 1st 3 yrs, then mostly vegetarian for past 15 years, I have such a sweet tooth!

Then I visited the restaurant late this past summer in Chiangmai Mai and it did not disappoint.. I love Thailand so this gives me more to look forward to when I'm back summer 2016! Everyone if you like touring around Thailand
And ur in town, come check out the awesome food, and my new friend Chef Chris and their super tasty exotic raw foods and desserts!
