Staff did not know which dishes were and weren't vegan friendly, make sure you tripple check the ingredients before eating here. Was very disappointing to be told I would be better off eating at home than at their restaurant, did not make me feel welcomed.
Ok for vegetarians but would not recommend for vegans.
An Aladdin’s Cave for Vegans, there simply for the asking..! - Edit
Aladdin’s is an Indian dining restaurant and caters for both eating in and takeaway. We took away. I had a quick chat with one of the waiters about vegan choices and he came back armed with all sorts of information. Indian cuisine is a gift if you are vegetarian but vegans tend to fall foul when it comes to ghee/clarified butter. This restaurant uses a vegetable ghee so once we had navigated away from animal based ingredients, we were away! Chef tweaked the vegetable Thali by swapping ingredients around and guided me with the other side dish choices. The takeaway containers kept the heat nicely so by the time we sat down to eat, our food was still piping hot 20 minutes later and my goodness, what a feast worth waiting for! We gorged ourselves on these generous portions but still managed to have the remainders for breakfast the next day. I was really impressed with this long standing village restaurant and have great hopes for its continued longevity.
