WOW! - Edit
A must for vegans coming to Naoshima. From my understanding, everything is vegan on the menu now. We had the lunch sets and delicious desserts and coffee. The interior is stunning too. Highly recommend, one of our best meals in Japan.

Best lunch I had in Japan - Edit
We had to wait quite some time before being seated but it was so worth it! The vegan lunch is absolutely delicious and the rice is some of the best I’ve ever had (my friend and I got the large portions, maybe it was a bit too much in the end 😂).
Read moreThe plum drink I had was also really nice and refreshing.
Highly recommend this place, it deserves 5 stars!

My vegan set was so delicious! I told them that now that they are all vegan, they need to update their listing. So this deserves 5 STARS

Lovely vegan set - Edit
There was no menu when we went, but you could pick the size of the rice in your set. I really loved everything, mostly local veg and the dessert was lovely!

Great matcha rice cake - Edit
Simple menu -- just the lunch set and some dessert. Feels very traditional and authentic. The bento was alright. The rice cake was the highlight for me. They seem to use locally sourced ingredients

Solid vegan set meal on Naoshima - Edit
We arrived shortly before the end of the lunch service and thankfully were able to order a pair of vegan set meals. We sat on the floor but there was a table available too.
Read moreThe rice was especially good, and was perfectly glutinous and salty. Given there aren't many options on the island, this was a perfect lunch and we really enjoyed it here.
Pros: Salty glutinous rice

would give 5 ⭐️ - Edit
Delicious, nurturing, satisfying vegan set meal. The only option was a vegan lunch set (not sure if they still serve fish, but it seemed like it’s all vegan from my perspective). You just decide if you want to pay an extra 100 yen for more rice. We lucked out and we were seated right away around 12pm. Others had come earlier for reservations. It would have been worth waiting if we had to. There’s an English menu available. Lots of drinks on offer as well as desserts. (We didn’t try any, and not sure if they’re all vegan too…but they do have soy ice cream!)

1,000 yen for a really nice lunch right in the middle of all the art house projects and near the bus stop. Kind staff and nice interior. Just be aware the wait can be a bit long so put your name on the list before you go browse some art.

Fine, limited menu options atm - Edit
Was only one menu option when we visited (think they have reduced business due to COVID). It was nice, though I found the tofu too slimey. Actually open, unlike most vegan places on the island ATM, which was a huuuge plus and the only hot meal I got when I was there. No complaints.

Guesthouse stay - Edit
Arrived in the evening once lunch had stopped being served but the staff saved us a lunch set and put it in the fridge at the guesthouse so we could warm it up in the microwave. For breakfast, onigiri and some other small dishes were left out in the kitchen for us. Simple but tasty, and convenient considering the lack of options in the island (when practically everything else was closed). The staff member we spoke to on the phone was really nice but the person who showed us around was oddly cold for some reason.

Lovely place - Edit
We came here while visiting Naoshima because of the great reviews it already has and we really enjoyed the rice set menu, particularly all the different veg, the mushroom tofu, and the soup. It cost 1000/1100 for more rice when we visited in December 2019. The little sweet tofu part was amazing!

Delicious vegan food on a beautiful island - Edit
If you happen to be visiting Naoshima your limited in your options as a vegan but this place is a must visit. Located among the Art Houses of the Honmura district of Naoshima island. Their lunch is fully vegan and is to die for. Easily the best rice and tofu I have had so far visiting Japan. The setting is traditional Japanese in a beautiful building which is a plus.

Unexpected treasure - Edit
Bring vegetarian is challenging in Japan, and we often settle for uninteresting food because there are no other options. This place was a rare find - delicious, beautiful setting, Japanese-style food and presentation, and vegan! There was only one menu option - a vegan set meal of many small plates, which you could get with a regular size or large size serving of brown rice. Long wait to get in but service was fast.

Seriously delicious, I was battling a cold when I went to have lunch at Aisunao, and their lunch set really warmed me right up. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the brown rice was beautifully sticky. A lovely place to visit :)

Arrived at 3 and the signs said closed. We approached the door anyway to see if that was even the correct place and were greeted by a lady who said they were closed. I showed her that this says open until 5 and she let us in. Severed us a delicious animal product free meal. We left satisfied and received excellent service. 😊
