The entire menu is entirely vegan and delicious. My friends and I all got different meals and all of us were extremely pleased. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for good healthy food around Kyoto.

Accommodating to allergies - Edit
The staff was very generous with accommodation to soy, gluten and corn allergies!
Read moreFor those with the same allergies, the Vegetable Paella as it can be made without soy and gluten and the baby corn topping substituted with another vegetable.

Cute cafe - Edit
Went here twice during my stay in Kyoto, the food is delicious. There are quite a few options. The staff speak English. Upstairs can be cosy. The burger was a little soft for my liking but tasted great with a bit of tomato sauce. Pancakes were gorgeous

Japan veg tour - Edit
This place was a lifesaver in the busy Nishiki Market area as most of the options are seafood. Have come back here multiple times for the fresh food and great atmosphere. Definitely recommend the taco filling with rice dish!

Such yummy food. My friend and I accidentally stumbled upon this place and we were so happy we did. She had the vegan burger, which was juicy and huge. I tried the deep fried veggie meat and vegetable soup which were both a treat. Thanks for the great food!

Vegan oasis tucked away in central Kyoto - Edit
We came here twice during our short stay in Kyoto for dinner and dessert. After finding it difficult being vegan in Japan, coming to Kyoto and especially finding the chain Ain. Soph Journey has made our trip so much better. Food is so tasty and serving sizes are generous! We got both curries😄Definitely try the creme brûlée as it’s the best dessert we’ve ever had anywhere and so unique. Looking forward to visiting their other locations in Tokyo.

Delicious food and sweets - Edit
Very nice restaurant. Everything off the menu was very tempting, like the burger, but we had our sights set on sweets. The cheesecakes were delicious, very rich and sweet with fantastic presentation. I also got the ice cream float with raspberry soda; from the sound of it, I wasn't sure how the flavors would work, but it was good, and their ice cream has great taste and texture. The menu has English, and there are some packaged cookies and treats that can be bought to go. The staff were very friendly. A bit pricey but well worth it!

Pancake heaven part 2 - Edit
We went to Ain Soph Journey in Tokyo and we love, love, LOVED the pancakes!! We missed them, and were so happy to see they had a branch in Kyoto as well.
Read moreBesides the pancakes we also ordered the hayashi rice, kara-age and the chocolate cake. The hayashi rice wasn't anything special, and I thought the kara-age in Tokyo was seasoned better.
BUT.
The pancakes were just as I remembered, they were just to die for! I was just so happy to get to taste them one more time before our trip was over!
The chocolate cake was also very rich and delicious! And their water was infused with some nice herbs and berries and you could refill it on your own. The inside ambience is better than the Tokyo branch, it felt very cozy.
Pros: PANCAKES!

Vegan Comfort Food - Edit
Centrally located off Shijo-dori in one of the branches of the Teramachi shopping arcade, Ain Soph has mainly Western-style comfort food: veggie burger, tofu omelet , pan-fried soy cutlets, tomato soup, dinner salad, pancakes. It’s a bit pricey and tastes just about average for vegan cafe dining. We ate dinner there after taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo, on a night when many other Kyoto veg restaurants are closed, so it was convenient. The large dinner salad was satisfying but the other dishes were disappointingly bland. There are some spectacular vegan spots in Kyoto featuring subtle flavors and Japanese takes on veganism, so I recommend trying those instead (Hale, Kousagisha, Hobodo, Stardust, Vegout cafe, Otera House Waka, Salute, GoMacro Salon) if the timing is right.
