Dairy free options are just subtractions - Edit
Clearly labeled menu, but at least one item is mislabeled -- veggie fajitas were labeled as vegan by default, but they have to be modified to exclude cheese and crema.
Read moreI ordered the farmer's market quesadilla vegan, and what came out was pieces of tortilla layered with beans and veggies. No vegan cheese. That's not a quesadilla. It tasted fine, but it's not very transparent to tout these as vegan options. A word to the restaurant: vegan diners will come away feeling slighted with options like these.
I would have liked to leave a more positive review, since it was otherwise a good experience.

Food and Margaritas are homemade - Edit
We’ve been going to Agave for many years. They have a very well labeled menu that explains what options you have to make something, vegan or vegetarian. Their margaritas are handmade per order. We love the pico de gallo, salsa Verde, and the queso for those vegetarian‘s out there it’s awesome. Chips are great. I usually get the mango and avocado salad without the bacon or the chopped Mexican salad without the tortilla bowl. They are very filling plus you can also order beans on the side or their Spanish rice, both of which are vegan. You would have to make some adjustments no cheese and check about dressing to be sure that you are getting a vegan option for that. I will say that it has changed over the years, but we still love going to Agave. The new location on route one is large and beautiful. We enjoy going to the one on 2nd Street. It’s quaint neighborhood vibe is what we enjoy.

Vegans be careful! - Edit
I moved here last year and thought I’d found a great place to eat. After I’d been there a few times I was told that the veggies are all sautéed in butter. I was really not happy that I’d never been informed on prior visits, but at that point I started to ask for the veggies to be prepared separately every time I ordered. I had the veggie burrito on my last visit, and after a few bites realized there was some kind of dairy. I asked my waiter if there was cheese in the burrito and he said there was. When I reminded him I was vegan he started to argue then ROLLED HIS EYES and said oh like no animals.

Expensive - Edit
the vegan options were limited to about two choices and one had just 3 veggies on it. Overpriced, loud and I was hungry because I had very little to choose from.

I’ll agree, a little pricy. But their menu is lacked wonderfully as to what’s vegan, what can be made vegan (ie eliminating cheese etc) & they have more than 2 options. I just ate there today & had the most amazing red pepper gazpacho, guacamole & their chopped Mexican salad (which the server offered me a vegan dressing choice from another salad to try on the side) I know their veg burrito (which is amazing) & also their veggie quesadilla can be done vegan,. Plus their are 3 sides that are vegan as well.. the cilantro corn is delish! There’s a veggie fajita as well & I also believe they have a dessert which is vegan but i honestly didn’t look today as I was stuffed ☺️ Hope this helps & you can make another visit back!

Plenty of options - Edit
I appreciated that the menu was clearly marked to show what was vegan and what could be made vegan. I had the veggie burrito and it was huge. I did steal my husband’s guacamole to go with it though! The chips and salsa was great.

Several options for vegans! - Edit
First time here and will definitely be back. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu and they also note the items that can be made vegan upon request. The chips and salsa appetizer is plentiful and delicious. I ordered the mango and avocado salad vegan... because of that, it didn't come with a dressing, but the salsa verde made an excellent substitute and was so good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great experience.
