Interesting to try once - Edit
The vegan finger foods seem to be better than previous reviews, and the tea was good, but it’s definitely still way overpriced.

Decent Tea in Historic Brown Palace - Edit
Met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and one of her buddies for afternoon tea at the Brown palace, and it was a really nice place to catch up and chill!
Read moreThe location is in a historic building, so it's got a lot of visual interest, but it's also in the center of the sort of lobby area (not sure what to call it) and a bit tightly packed, so it also feels pretty exposed to whatever noises are going on, which isn't my favorite type of setting, but is certainly unique and would be enjoyable for those who don't mind. There was definitely a tour of the building that occurred during part of our tea, which brought some extra background noise, but not egregiously so. There was live piano for a time, as well, which was lovely, and the servers were quite nice.
The tea service itself was good--my friend had called ahead and made the arrangements as she (being the local) was more familiar etc., and they were able to provide a vegan set for me and a gluten-free set for her (plus the normal set for her friend), and we all enjoyed the snacks. No idea if they are able to accommodate both vegan and gluten-free, but they might. Nothing was a standout to me, but I also liked everything on my tier well enough, which is itself an accomplishment. The tea was good as well, but as is typical in afternoon tea places, most of the variety comes from flavored teas, so if you prefer unflavored, your choices will be more limited (but there are still a handful to choose from).
Overall, a really nice afternoon tea experience (if a bit on the expensive side), just be aware that if you have any dietary restrictions, arranging ahead by at least a day seems to be a must.
Pros: Decent vegan options, Gluten-free options, Good service
Cons: Expensive, Tightly packed open space

Food is Meh at Best - Edit
My husband and I have had high tea here a few times for special occasions. The tea itself is high-quality, the service lovely, and the atmosphere divine, but I'm always reluctant to go back.
Read moreThis is an instance where I can't simply be grateful they offer vegan options as the vegan options are generally maddingly bland hummus on a piece of celery. I've been to small cafes in the middle of nowhere and had chefs be excited by the challenge of whipping up something for me. To have a fancy place in the middle of a major metropolitan city that can't get it together to make a few basic vegan finger foods when requested is unforgivable.
You can do better, Brown Palace.
Pros: Gorgeous Setting, Excellent Service
Cons: Vegan Options are Bland and Unimaginative

Options available, but not impressed - Edit
I would not recommend anyone to spend the $60 to eat here if you are looking for impressive vegan options. However, if you are going for the historical experience, or worried you will be left out of a group event, know that the food is decent.

Incredible experience - Edit
This is a fantastic thing to do in the afternoon. Just for fun or to celebrate something. It’s $50pp for lots of delicious tiny sandwiches and pastries. They had a plate and a half of entirely vegan options. The tea was so good too. Highly recommend the peach black tea!
