Giant vegan platter! - Edit
And really fast service. The platter for two could probably feed 3. Nice wine selection too, which was a pleasant bonus.

Loved it - Edit
The vegan platter is tasty and the experience was lovely. Very friendly staff, generous servings, cozy atmosphere. I had the chance to eat Afghan food in Afghanistan, and this restaurant is authentic and brings to Vancouver the flavors and vibes of Afghanistan. Recommended

Great atmosphere and food - Edit
There aren't a ton of vegan options, but the ones that they have are superb. The vegan plate or vegan platter are excellent and are listed right on the menu. Those give you most of the vegan items as a sampler (for one or two people). Plus they have a ravioli-type stuffed dough that can be made vegan that is also delicious.

The restaurant is enormous, with a nice outdoor section for the summer, and a special room where you sit on the floor on cushions in front of small tables.
They used to have a belly-dancer in on the weekends, but I don't think they are doing that anymore. Still a very atmospheric dining experience.
Pros: Delicious food, Large servings
Cons: Not cheap, Not many vegan options

Good Service, Great Food - Edit
One of my favourite places to go for birthdays or special occasions! I never get tired of the ambiance, and the belly dancing is fantastic. I always, always get the vegan platter for 2. It has some great vegan options, my favourite being the crowd pleasing pakawras. The hummus is also one of the best in the city, and made from lentils. I sometimes request an extra order to take home. If you're vegan, make sure to ask for pita without butter. They're very accommodating, and can make some great suggestions if you're unsure of what to get! Also, be sure to nab a spot in the tent room for some unique vibes.

Too fatty - Edit
As much as I enjoy comfort food that can be on the greasy side, dishes at Afghan Horsemen are just way too fatty for me. It did not go great for me. I much rather go to East is East for more flavour and less fat.

Pros: Vegan options, Interesting atmosphere
Cons: Staff was not very attentive, Fatty foods

delicious - Edit
We loved the vegan meal for two. Lots of variety, elegantly served, and delicious. We sat in the pillow room, where you sit on the floor under a low table. We would go back.

My favourite! - Edit
The vegan plate is perfect for one person, it gives you everything vegan on the menu. The vegan platter is great for two people if you can convince someone else to get it with you! I love the pakarwa, they are battered and deep fried potato slices, so delicious!

good veggie option by Granville Island - Edit
We really enjoyed the Afghan Horseman on our visit to Vancouver. We had no trouble getting vegan/vegetarian food - which I wasn't sure about, based on the above review. We just ordered the vegetarian special or platter (not sure what it was called). We enjoyed trying a different type of cuisine, and thought that this appeared to be the best vegetarian option for a unique meal out of the Granville Island eateries (though it's technically in the block off the island).

a family outing - Edit
we got decent food but had to work at getting much vegan variety . they have a couple of vegan offerings but not as easy to get them to convert other dishes. a bit expensive but worth a visit moved from broad way to 202 - 1833 Anderson at Second Ave near Granville market .
