Great Lunch Option on the Road to Hāna - Edit
With so few places to choose from in general in Maui, it’s nice to have this place as an option on the Road to Hāna. Up until the day we visited this place, we’d had two different kinds of burgers, so we were excited to eat something different.
Read moreWe were pleased to see a board just for the vegan menu. We got the drunken noodle, which was good. I wouldn’t drive all the way out there just for that, but it left us satisfied and full. The portion size was large, so we definitely had enough leftover for another meal. They offer spice levels from 1-10.
Overall, I wouldn’t drive recommend it if you don’t have a way to bring your own lunch for the Road to Hāna drive.

There are five vegan menu items: red or green curry, tofu stir fry, egg rolls, and drunken noodles. They were out of curry so we got the other three, and they were decent.

Delicious vegan curry! - Edit
Luckily the only vegan option in Hana was Ae’s Thai Kitchen Food Truck. While they serve meat, they have a separate vegan menu visible. Very generous portions!

The red curry with tofu was delicious, with a generous portion size for both the curry and the rice—definitely hearty and worth the price. While the menu offers a handful of vegan dishes, they were unfortunately out of the green curry and the coconut tapioca (maybe confirm this is vegan before ordering as I’m not sure I got a real response), and the papaya salad couldn’t be made vegan.

Ate here twice because there are few options in Hana. First time I asked for vegan pad see ew, which was on the vegan menu and I specified vegan. There was egg in it. Second time, I got vegan tofu stir fry. There was a different cashier, but I specifically asked if there was egg in it. He seemed to understand vegan better and confirmed no egg. Relatively cheap considering how expensive everything in Hana is.

Ae’s did not disappoint with a fried tofu and veggie rice dish and green papaya salad. Make sure to bring cash for Hana, but if you forget (like us) they will kindly point you in the direction of the neighborhood general store which has an atm. Actually, just bring a cash for your meals for the whole island. Business owners truly appreciate it.

Not many options in Hana, but this is NOT a last resort. Really good food! I had drunken noodles. Tofu was excellent, lots of fresh veggies, super flavorful sauce. I didn't give a spice level (wasn't asked to) and it was 0% spicy.

They helpfully explained which options are vegan. We chose the Drunken Noodles with tofu and the (daily special) Pumpkin Curry with tofu. Both were really good, and the coconut milk on the curry tasted really fresh. Chose "spicy" for the noodles... it was really spicy.

A 5 in my book! After a lengthy discussion with the counter staff who very patiently answered all my questions, they recommended the green bamboo curry with rice. It is made with coconut milk and I chose veggies for my ‘protein’. Needless to say, it was bit enough for two and very tasty. It has a kick (she told the person after me..) and it’s exactly what I needed today.
