Hit and miss

Recently went here again and I was actually quite happy. We ordered raw lasagna, the Jerusalem artichoke soup and the cheese platter which were all great.

My husband also ordered the udon noodle dish which was bland and boring. I guess if you manage to find the good dishes, the restaurant is not too bad. Venue is nice and service is good.

Original Review:

I feel like I had too high expectations for this restaurant. Went here for dinner on the opening night and found it rather unimpressive. We will go again some time soon and try a few more dishes but I don't have particularly high hopes.

The menu contains unfortunately a lot of fried & comfort food items. We started with the racelette sharing plate (ok but wouldnt order again) and the crab cake which I did not enjoy at all. It was fried excessively and served with an overly oily and salty sauce, definetly stay clear of this dish. As mains we had the raw lasanga (excellent) and cacio e pepe (bland). Deserts were not good which was a disappointment as Matthew Kenny's restaurants usually serve great raw cakes. We ordered a carrot cake (too dry, cannot recommend) and a hibiscous cheese cake which could have been good had it not been overloaded with whipped cream and a gelantin imitation on top. Both deserts were also too sweet for my taste.

I guess in summary it would be fair to say that I loved the raw lasanga, but didn't enjoy the remainder of the dishes as they were either too comforty or too bland. It's a lovely venue and while food didn't live up to expectations, it was also not inedible.

Two additional notes that might be of interest to other diners:
1) All wines are biodynamic (except the Querciabella wines). What I learned only recently is that for a wine to be certified as biodynamic, they need to use animal manure and horns to fertilise the soil.
2) The location was a bit tricky to find at first. Its on the second floor close to the women designer shops.

Raw food to the next level

I wanted to try this London address by Matthew Kenney!
What I didn’t know is that many plates are raw food. To be honest, it’s not my favorite kind of food to say the least. BUT here, it was done very well, and I actually enjoyed my plate!! Which is good 👍🏼
The staff is so lovely, we got the caviar on the house for our anniversary.
The overall meal 2 cocktails cost 92£ (112€) which I find very expensive for the kind of food served. I think we pay more for the location (a luxury store restaurant) than for the actual food.

Pros: Lovely staff, Raw food, but next level , Great location

Cons: Raclette was not a raclette , Not what I expect for this price range

okay experience

I really enjoy Matthew Kenney’s restaurants and it’s usually a five star for me, but sadly this one left me a bit disappointed. The place itself is great, it has stunning views, big windows and it’s very classy and service is, as usual, spectacular. The food, on the other hand, was not as good as it usually is, we shared the raclette because we had it in one of his Venice venues (Plan food & wine) and we had loved it, but the one in Adesse was just weird, I mean it was too spicy and the texture was just not it. As mains we had the cacio & pepe which was not flavorful and it had an olive tapenade that tasted weird and the raw lasagna which was very nice.
I did have the lychee cocktail that was so very nice, I would totally recommend it

Adesse

I ate at Adessa last night and was very surprised to see the restaurant completely empty given it was a Saturday night. Nevertheless, my dining partner and I also came away very underwhelmed by our meals and ended up leaving most of our entrees behind. Our bill was 103 GBP. Given my experience at other Matthew Kenney restaurants this experience the price paid, I can't give more than two stars.

They had a "food shortage" and didn't have a number of their menu items available... On a Saturday.

- Crab Cake: Very greasy. Taste was OK.
- Golden Soup: It was fine, but wouldn't order again. Caused me to have immediate heartburn.
- Cacio Pepe: Bland noodles. The olive tapenade added some flavor, but it wasn't a great taste.
- Lasagne: This is a raw lasagne. There was way too much nut cheese/purée and the overall taste of this dish was not good...I could barely eat half of it. Moreover, I realized this is the same exact dish served at Matthew Kenney's restaurant Althea in Saks Fifth Avenue Chicago.

I am very disappointed because I want to like Matthew Kenney restaurants and be supportive, but I keep having lackluster experiences at his locations globally. I hope things improve and that this location becomes successful, but I won't be back any time soon.

Absolutely delicious!

The food here was delicious! I tried the Spicy Udon dish and the Hibiscus cheesecake for dessert. Both were sensational, just as you’d expect from a Matthew Kenney restaurant. This is somewhere I’ll definitely be visit f every time I’m in London!

Pros: Delicious food, Nice atmosphere, Unique
