The burger was good but it comes without french fries, which is absurd considering the raise in price in the last few years and before it came with fries.

We stopped in Santana for lunch today as part of a tour. This place is the only place we could find in Santana offering anything vegan to eat! We both went for the soup of the day which was a choice of tomato or vegetable, we both went with vegetable which was really good. I then had the vegan burger & chips, again…… Simple but effective!

Read moreThe burger is like something you'd prepare for yourself, if you wanted a quick easy meal at home.
You'll get really good bread, some vegetables and a vegan burger patty, that's it.
Not bad but I expected a bit more.
I'm not sure if the fries are included, I ordered it as a side and they were not good - store-bought ones without any taste.

No tourist trap - Edit
The restaurant is located just across the street from the famous traditional houses where all the tourists stop. But it‘s inexpensive and it has a few vegan items on the menu and even a vegan burger.
Read moreIt‘s made with typical Madeiran bread, fresh cucumber, salad, carrot, onions and a vegan patty (tastes like beef). The vegetarian burger is exactly the same but has a different patty (no cheese on it). Both had no sauce on it but you get ketchup on the table. Portion of fries is huge.
All in all nothing extraordinary but a solid and filling lunch.
Pros: Parking space nearby, Inexpensive, Quick service
Cons: No burger sauce
